Vidya Balan will soon play her iconic role of 'Manjulika' in Anees Bazmee's horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiya 3. Vidya had previously rejected the offer to star in the sequel out of fear that it would ruin the impact of her work in the original movie.
In an interview with Galatta India, the Kahaani actress opened up about how she didn't even receive a nomination for her indelible performance in Bhool Bhulaiyaa directed by film director and screenwriter, Priyasarshan in 2007.
While in conversation with host Nayandeep Rakshit, the Paa fame, Vidya Balan shared how her father felt incredibly sad that she was not nominated for any award. Vidya recalled that she was told that her film was a remake and, hence, not eligible for any nominations. Even though the actress moved on, her father felt bad for a long time. She shared:
"At that time, I was told that it was a remake of a Malayalam film so my performance wasn't eligible for a nomination. So I said, ‘Okay, fine.’ But I remember my father felt very bad. You move on. Because it's always relative. Someone else got it because their performance was loved more than mine. But he would feel damn bad."
Even though Vidya did not get any nominations for Bhool Bhulaiya, the actress proved that she is one of the best actresses by consecutively winning the Best Actress award for four years. The actress won the award for Paa in 2010, Ishqiya in 2011, Dirty Picture in 2012 and Kahaani in 2013.
The actress shared that she is grateful for all the recognition she has gained, and feels she has been amply rewarded. So she finds it surprising when people tell her that she deserved an award for her performance in Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Balan shared:

"I feel that I'm very blessed. I've always focused on my work, not on the result. And I've been adequately rewarded, actually more than I imagined. So I'm very grateful always. But yes, it was surprising because everyone told me you deserved a nomination (for Bhool Bhulaiyaa), but I was like, ‘Let’s move on,'"
