Vidya Balan is one of the most stunning actresses of her generation, who has mesmerised millions of audiences with her impeccable performances. It was in 2005 that she made her debut with the iconic film, Parineeta and ever since there hasn’t been any looking back for her.

Vidya Balan talks about breaking away from serious and intense roles in films

In a recent interaction with the Indian Express, Vidya Balan talked about choosing a breezy film like her upcoming one, Do Aur Do Pyaar, whereas she is most broadly recognised to be a serious actor. In her response, the diva revealed that she gets bored doing such intense roles and added that her choices are based on what she is feeling at a particular moment. In her words:

“I got a bit bored of the intense stuff. My choices are based only on how I am feeling. And at that point I felt like yaar hasne hasaane ka time aa gaya hai. I love lighthearted, happy stuff. I have enjoyed the intense stuff that I have done but I began to get a bit bored of the kind of stuff that I was being offered. There is so much intensity in everything that I started feeling that mujhe hasna hai, hasaana hai.”

Vidya Balan shares her view over not choosing new fashion trends in her sartorial picks

In another segment of the interview, Vidya talked about her unique fashion game, which doesn’t always follow the newer trends and styles. In retrospect, the actress remarked that while she does not understand fashion, she chooses to follow the factor of comfortability. Vidya added that she wears certain attires and outfits to make herself happy, and not because it is fashionable or adheres to a particular trend. She explained:

“Honestly, I don’t understand fashion, I never have. But with age, I have got more comfortable with myself. I started embracing who I am and therefore what I like to wear. So I wear exactly what I like. It’s not to make anyone else happy but myself. I don’t wear things because it is cool or fashionable, I would be suffocating myself if I am not feeling good about what I am wearing. I feel, to me, my opinion is the only one that matters and that’s without any disrespect to anyone. Once one touches 40, it is very liberating.”

Vidya recalled a pointless request to lose weight before every film

In another segment of the interaction, Vidya Balan addressed how she is asked to lose a few kilos, every time that she signs up a film. She mentioned how filmmakers ask her to do so, since it would appear appropriate on screen. However, Vidya remarked that such a request is ridiculous, and she debated against the idea of being thin in order to be desirable.
