Bollywood actress, Vidya Balan is a powerhouse of talent, who needs no introduction. With her brilliant performances in films like Parineeta, Kaahani, Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Begum Jaan, Vidya has managed to impress her fans with her impeccable acting skills. Currently, the actress is excited to return to the silver screens after a long time with the thriller, Neeyat, and she has been busy with the promotions of the film.
In a conversation with Mashable India, Vidya Balan went down memory lane and revealed how she was challenged with a bet back in her early acting days. The actress shared that she was part of the Indian Music Group, which organised music concerts every year. Mentioning that she was on the organising committee, Vidya recalled how they used to go for a walk to Nariman Point at night. She said:

“You know, we had something called the IMG, which is the Indian Music Group. They organise classical music concerts, Indian classical music concerts every year. It’s a three-day festival, and it used to be all-nighters. It used to be amazing. I was on the organising committee, well, actually I was a volunteer. We used to help organise everything, and then at night, once it was over, we would all go for a walk to Nariman Point."

Further in the conversation, Vidya Balan shared that once she got a challenge to go to the coffee shop in Oberoi–The Palms and knock on the door asking for food. She added that she immediately agreed to go to the door of the cafe and started knocking. Vidya continued to knock to the extent that she might have irritated the people inside. She revealed:
"Once I got challenged. They told me to go to the coffee shop in Oberoi–The Palms and knock on the door asking for food. They told me, ‘Oberoi main jo coffee shop hain, ‘waha jaake tak tak karna aur dedo kuch khane ke liye bolna.’ Main rahi actor unko woh pata nahi tha. I continuously knocked and you know how people get irritated, I have also done it so many times.”
Vidya Balan revealed that she kept on knocking and asking for food as she had not eaten anything since the previous day. But despite her begging, nobody answered, and her friends called her back. However, the actress ended up acing the bet and won an extra packet of Jim Jam. She concluded:
“I kept knocking saying, ‘Please I am hungry, I have not eaten anything since yesterday.’ After a while, they just looked the other way, and after that, my friend got embarrassed and said, ‘Please come away.’ But I won the bet. The bet was Jim Jam biscuits. Because our sponsor was Britannia for the concert, and we had lots of biscuits. But the thing was, if I do this, I’ll get an extra packet of Jimjam, and I got it.”

Vidya Balan's upcoming film, Neeyat, is a murder mystery, in which the actress will portray a never-seen-before avatar. The movie features a stellar cast of actors including the likes of Ram Kapoor, Rahul Bose, Neeraj Kabi, Amrita Puri, Prajakta Koli, Ishika Mehra and Madhav Deval in pivotal roles. Directed by Anu Menon, the film will get released on July 7, 2023.
