Vijay Mallya, a name that was once popular in every business circuit has gained limelight again after Royal Challengers Bangalore lifted the winner's trophy in 2025, after 18 years. It was a joyous moment for Vijay, who founded the team back in 2008. The OG owner praised the team and its efforts on social media.
Apart from RCB, the popular businessman, Vijay Mallya was also the founder of Kingfisher Airlines. ‘The King of Good Times’ garnered a lot of limelight for his involvement in the infamous IDBI bank loan default case worth Rs. 900 crore and tons of other frauds to his name. In 2016, when the investigation began, Vijay Mallya secretly flew to the UK to avoid arrest in India and is currently residing in the UK.
After Vijay Mallya flew to the UK, the Kingfisher villa, owned by him, was auctioned and purchased by a famous Bollywood actor. The three-acre property was sold to the actor in 2017, and he changed its name to King’s Mansion. Read on to know more about it.
When Vijay secretly flew to the UK, a consortium of banks led by the State Bank of India sold the luxurious property to actor Sachiin Joshi, owner of Viiking Ventures, and his actress wife, Urvashi Sharma, for Rs. 73.01 crore in 2017. Earlier the luxurious property, spread across over 12,350 square feet, belonged to the United Breweries Holdings, the parent of the Kingfisher Airlines.

Sachiin Joshi first visited the mansion in 2007 and considered it one of the finest properties. After the fraudulent cases on Vijay Mallya, the lenders took physical possession of the villa in 2016 as part of their efforts to recover Rs. 9000 crore dues owned by Mallya.
Soon after Sachiin purchased the villa, he renamed it ‘King’s Mansion’. Just like Vijay Mallya, Sachiin Joshi also operates a liquor manufacturing business, whose products include ‘King's beer’, from which the villa’s name was derived. Speaking about the new name of the villa, Sachiin told the media:
“For months now, I have been asked about my plans for the villa. Today is the day I open the gates to the world. The property has been coronated as the 'King's Mansion' and the future plans have been drawn. We had multiple names to dabble, but then the brand connection from 'Kings Beer' and the inherent grandeur of the property made the choice.”
Son of Jagdish Joshi, JMJ group of industries’ owner, Sachiin Joshi, is an Indian actor who made his Hindi film debut in 2011 with the film Azaan, followed by Mumbai Mirror and Jackpot. He has also worked in many Telugu films. He also reprised the role of Aditya Roy Kapur in Nee Jathaga Nenundali, the Tollywood version of Aashiqui 2. Apart from being an actor, Sachiin is a leading business tycoon, who was arrested in 2021 by the Indian Enforcement Directorate on money laundering charges. The businessman-turned-actor is married to former actress Urvashi Sharma.
