Ex Gujarat CM, Vijay Rupani DIED In Ahmedabad Plane Crash, Family Prayed With 'Mahamritunjay Jaap'

Former Gujarat Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani, who was travelling to London on Air India Boeing Dreamliner 737 aircraft, died in the fatal crash. Over 200 people have been feared dead, and it is reported that Vijay Rupani wasn't able to survive the Air India plane crash. The 68-year-old politician was travelling to London to meet his family. 

Vijay Rupani passed away in the fatal Air India crash

Gujarat's BJP state president, CR Patil, confirmed Vijay Rupani's death and called it a great loss for the party. He stated that their leader, Vijay Rupani, was also on that flight. He was quoted as saying:

"Our leader, former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, was also on that flight. Vijay Rupani died in this tragedy. May God grant peace to his soul. This is a great loss for the BJP family as well."

Former Minister, Bhupendrasingh Chudasama also revealed that he was left shocked when he turned on the TV and found out about a flight from Ahmedabad to London. He was quoted as saying:

"I had a program at Gujarat Vidyapeeth. After returning, I was having lunch and turned on the TV when I saw that a flight from Ahmedabad to London had crashed. I became worried because I knew Vijay Rupani was scheduled to travel to London today, though I didn’t know he was on this flight. I immediately turned off the TV and came to his residence in Gandhinagar. I am now heading to the civil airport for more information."

Why was Vijay Rupani travelling to London?

According to reports, Vijay Rupani's wife, Anjali Rupani, was in London, and the former Chief Minister was believed to be visiting the UK to bring her back. However, the family is in deep pain as the pillar of their family left for the heavenly abode in a tragic incident. A video of the Rupani family circulated online as they prayed for his safety and prayed to Lord Shiva by reciting Mahamritunajay Jaap.

Last photo of Vijay Rupani just before the Air India flight crash

While the entire nation is praying for the people who lost their lives and families affected due to the fatal crash, the last photo of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani also surfaced on the internet. For those who don't know, Vijay Rupani was going to London to meet his wife and daughter, who were already there. According to reports, Vijay Rupani's wife, Anjali, was planning to return to India with him. In the photo clicked by a passenger sitting in the front, he wore a sky blue-hued shirt.

More about the crash

In the afternoon, a video of the aircraft flying low and trying its best to gain altitude surfaced on the internet. In the clip, the plane was seen slamming to the ground and exploding in a massive ball of fire at 1:38 p.m. For those who don't know, the aircraft was also loaded with fuel as it was flying to London, which included a lot of distance. 

It is reported that shortly after the take-off, the pilot had sent a mayday call. After this, they did not respond, despite repeated calls from the air traffic controllers. According to aviation expert Sanjay Lazar, the aircraft was clearly unable to climb. The catastrophic failure to achieve lift happened at a low altitude of 825 feet.
