Vikrant Massey was a familiar face in the Indian TV industry. However, through his phenomenal performances, Vikrant has proved his mettle in Bollywood and established himself as a popular film star. Like most of his on-screen characters, the actor is also known for his calm personality and imparting words of wisdom as an outsider who made it into films. Recently, Vikrant also opened up about his personal beliefs and views on religion, having grown up in a multi-faith family.
Vikrant Massey and his wife, Sheetal Thakur, welcomed their baby boy, Vardaan, in February 2025. Discussing the multi-faith background of his family, Vikrant revealed in Rhea Chakraborty's podcast, Chapter 2, that he left the religion column on his baby boy's birth certificate blank. The actor further stated that the government doesn't ask anyone to specify a religion on the birth certificate, so he put a dash in the particular section when they received Vardaan's certificate. Vikrant then stated that he would be heartbroken if his son treated anyone differently based on the faith that the other person follows. The actor said in the interview:
"On the birth certificate of my baby boy, we left the space for religion blank. So when his birth certificate came from the government, there was no religion stated on it. Toh yeh nahi hai ki sarkaar aapko bolti hai likhna padega. It depends on you. The moment we got his birth certificate, I put a dash in the religion column. I will be so heartbroken if I realise my son is treating anyone on the basis of the practices they follow. I am not raising my son that way."
Vikrant Massey, in the same podcast, talked about his own personal beliefs. He stated that, in his opinion, religion is a personal choice and that everyone has the right to choose their own religion. The actor also said that he visits places of worships of all different religions, and gets peace with all of them. Vikrant then talked about how it is a complicated topic for him since he doesn't believe in the tenets of any one religion but has faith that someone is looking after him. He also mentioned that he thanks God every day for the work he gets in the industry and also for keeping him safe.
"I think religion is a personal choice. For me, it's a way of life. I think everyone has the right to choose their religion. Mere ghar pe har prakaar ke religion aapko milenge. I think religion is man-made. Mai pooja karta, gurudwara bhi jaata hun, dargah bhi jaata hun (I offer prayers, I go to the gurdwara, and I also visit dargah). I get peace with all of this."
Vikrant Massey has often talked about his unique family, who all follow different faiths. The actor has once shared that his father is Christian and his mother is Sikh. Meanwhile, Vikrant's brother had converted to Islam at the age of 17. In 2022, the actor tied the knot with Sheetal Thakur, who is from a Hindu Rajput family. With many different faiths practised at his home, Vikrant deeply believes in God, but doesn't follow any particular religion.
