Vikrant Massey is like a breath of fresh air in the well-dressed, picture-perfect world of Bollywood. The actor is not only candid about his journey but also about the image he was expected to maintain over the years. In a recent conversation, Vikrant shared again how he had tried to blend in with the film industry before giving up and forging his own path.
From preppy airport looks to high-profile events, everything in a Bollywood celebrity's closet is carefully curated to keep them on trend. However, in an industry where being seen is one of the most important factors, Vikrant Massey has not only questioned the ways of B-Town but also changed them to an extent. While actors often turn to professional PR strategies to maintain their image, the 12th Fail actor found being himself far more convenient for him and his pocket.
Virant Massey recently sat for a conversation with Rhea Chakraborty on her podcast and got candid about his short-lived attempt at keeping up with Bollywood trends. The actor revealed that he had initially tried to adopt the glamorous PR lifestyle, but it ultimately made him feel inauthentic, so he gave it up. He was quoted as saying:
"There are days when I actually sit back and question my choices, also. There are days when I probably fall weak and sit with that thought for 2-3 days: am I doing the right thing, should I reposition myself in a certain way? Should I actually go out there and get photographed by the paparazzi? To each their own, voh zaruri bhi hai kyunki uska ek traction hai."
In the same conversation, Vikrant Massey described how he tried to play the B-Town game, attending parties and renting designer outfits. However, he soon realised that it was not for him. Vikrant shared that he tried to blend in for six months, but the designer clothes were extremely expensive. He was quoted as saying:
"I tried for 4-5 months, probably half a year. I started attending parties and renting out clothes, but they are so expensive. Itna paisa lagta hai ek hi baar kapde pehanane ke liye. Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 60,000 per day, per event.
In the same conversation, Vikrant Massey revealed it was his now-wife who asked him why he was doing this. She reminded him that the designer clothes he was renting were equivalent to their entire month's rent. So after several failed attempts, he finally realised how uncomfortable he was and decided to stop. He was quoted as saying:

"My wife, who was my girlfriend then, said, 'Why? For 4-5 hours, you are wearing big designer clothes, wo pur mahine ka kharcha hai humara.' I tried and I failed and I realised how uncomfortable I was. I was not being myself. I was always conscious of wearing those ultra expensive clothes ki kuch ganda naa hojaaye because I had to return them."
On the work front, Vikrant Massey is on a roll. The actor has several strong projects lined up for the future. He will soon be seen alongside debutante, Shanaya Kapoor, in Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. He will also essay the role of spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in an upcoming biopic. He's also part of Rajkumar Hirani's much-awaited web series and is reportedly in talks for Don 3, where he will share the screen with Ranveer Singh.
