Former Indian cricketer, Vinod Kambli is in trouble after allegedly assaulting his wife, Andrea Hewitt. The star wife filed an FIR against him and complained that he had hit her and hurled abuses at her in front of their two children under the influence of alcohol. The incident happened at Vinod's Bandra house. However, according to reports, no arrests have been made in the case yet.
According to the Bandra Police, Andrea filed an FIR against her husband on February 3, 2023. She revealed that Kambli was under the influence of liquor when the incident happened. The police further revealed that Vinod's wife shared that he had thrown the broken handle of a cooking pan at her, and it caused her head injuries. She also revealed that he tried to hit her with a bat. An officer said:
"The complainant has said that Kambli threw the broken handle of a cooking pan at her, causing injuries to her head. He also tried to hit her with a bat but she managed to wrest it out of his hands, after which she immediately took both her children and left the house."
Andrea also underwent treatment at the Bhabha Hospital in Bandra, after which she went to the police station to record her statement. The police also revealed that she had submitted a copy of the medical report.
In the FIR, Andrea shared that Vinod came home drunk and hurled abuses. His 12-year-old son was also present there, and he tried to soothe him when Vinod rushed to the kitchen, grabbed a pan, and threw it on her. She was quoted as saying:
"On 3rd Feb around 1 pm, my husband Vinod Kambli under ready influence of alcohol was abusing me in front of my two kids. That is when I told him not to abuse. He lost his temper and threw broken handle of a frying pan on my head. I suffered injuries. He also ran behind to hit with a bat. My son intervened, but he was abusive against us. I left the house and took treatment at Bhabha Hospital."
However, Vinod Kambli doesn't know anything about the complaint. In an interview with Times Now, the former cricketer shared that he was unaware of the complaint and didn't know his wife had gone to the police station.
Vinod Kambli married Andrea Hewitt in a Christian ceremony at St Peter's Church in 2014. The couple has been dating for a couple of years and had formalised their relationship with a court marriage years before their Catholic wedding. The couple embraced parenthood with the arrival of their son in 2010. They are also blessed with a daughter.
Well, we hope everything sorts out between the ex-cricketer and his wife!
