Vinod Khanna's son, Akshaye Khanna, is being loved for his role in Aditya Dhar's directorial, Dhurandhar. He is the son of Bollywood's famous veteran actor, Vinod Khanna, and he proved that acting runs in his blood. While fans know all about Vinod Khanna's stardom and life, not many know about his first wife and the kind of life she led.

Vinod Khanna's first wife, Geetanjali, was a model and hailed from a Parsi family. Her family had lawyers and businessmen, and she was the first one to enter the glamour world. Talking about her father, Geetanjali was the daughter of A.F.S. Taleyarkhan. He was the first commentator in the early 1950s.

Vinod Khanna first met Geetanjali Taleyarkhan during his college days. He was smitten by her beauty, and they started dating each other. By this time, Vinod wasn't a big name in the film industry. However, during this time, he was spotted by producer, Sunil Dutt, who offered him his first film, Man Ka Meet.

After making a name in the film industry and tasting success, Vinod, who was avoiding the topic of marriage, decided to get married. In 1971, he tied the knot with Geetanjali, and it was a grand affair attended by who's who of Bollywood. Vinod Khanna's life was sorted as he had a loving wife and a flourishing career. In 1972, Geetanjali delivered their first child, Rahul Khanna, and later in 1975, Akshaye Khanna was born. After his family was complete, Vinod Khanna managed his career with ease, he had made a policy of not working on Sundays and he would spend the off with his family.

Vinod Khanna, who was at the peak of his acting career and had a loving family, felt the urge to know more, to attain spirituality. Despite having it all, there was a sense of missingness, and on the quest to find it, he had taken sanyas, in 1982. The day he left Bollywood and his family for Osho's ashram, his personal life turned upside down. 

Initially, Vinod Khanna, who was in the USA, stayed in touch with his wife and family via phone calls. But it wasn't enough for a family of two boys, who were growing up. Geetanjali tried to express her difficulties in raising the boy alone and revealed that the children faced questions about his whereabouts.

After three years of juggling life alone and persuading Vinod Khanna to return to his family, she gave him an ultimatum to choose between her and his spirituality. When she got no answer, she filed for divorce, and in 1985, they officially parted ways. Vinod Khanna returned to India in 1987, but by then, his choice of staying in the ashram had ended his marital life. 

Vinod Khanna's life after divorce 

Vinod Khanna was back in India with Osho's advice — to live life as he was acting and act as if it was his life. While Bollywood openly welcomed him in films, it was at the age of 43 that love knocked on the door of his heart again. He found a second chance with Kavita Daftary. After a lot of persuading, Kavita fell for Vinod's charm, and they got married in 1990. The couple was blessed with two children— a son and a daughter. 

Talking about Vinod Khanna's first wife, Geetanjali Taleyarkhan, she did not give marriage another chance. She raised her two children on her own. At the age of 70, Geetanjali passed away in 2018. However, Vinod Khanna died in 2017.
