Virat Kohli has broken many hearts when he announced the decision to retire from Test Cricket. His fans across the world were left disheartened, but it came from a place of prioritising family over dream. The 36-year-old cricketer wants to spend a simple life away from the glamour, fans' hoohaa and paparazzi circle, with his daughter, Vamika and one-year-old son, Akaay.
According to a report in The Telegraph, Virat, who is now based in London with his wife, Anushka Sharma and their two children, Vamika and Akaay, has chosen to live a quiet life of anonymity miles away from the cricket field, he once ruled. Virat craves a private life away distance from the cricket, which he loves dearly. He won't be witnessing the matches even as the Indian team is getting ready to play two Test matches in the city, which serves as a home for Virat and Anushka. He had skipped both the World Test Championship final and the MCC's 'World Cricketer Connect'.
The report further stated that Kohli found his calm in London, which India failed to offer. He happily explores the city like a normal husband holding shopping bags of Anushka, cafe hopping with his daughter, Vamika, and carrying his little baby boy, Akaay, in his arms. The cricketer had happily shared that he enjoys privacy, which he always craved in London. It is the primary reason for shifting base. The couple is believed to be residing in Notting Hill, where they have been living for a few years.
Anushka often comes in support of Virat in almost all his matches. When Virat announced his retirement from the Test Cricket format, Anushka took to her Instagram handle and penned a lengthy, emotional note for him. She mentioned how she was the one to witness Virat's hard work, sweat, and tears. Anushka further penned how people would talk about his records and the milestones, but she would remember the battles no one had seen him fighting. She praised him for doing his best in the game.
In February 2024, we spotted Virat on several lunch dates with his daughter, Vamika. However, Virat and his family came back to India during the IPL 2024 but flew with the cricketer to New York for the T20 World Cup. In fact, Virat revealed that he likes it abroad as no one recognises him, and he was even able to spend quality time with his daughter, Vamika. He had said:

"We were not in the country. Just to feel normal for two months - for me, my family - it was a surreal experience. Couldn't have been more grateful to God for the opportunity to spend time with the family. It's an amazing experience to just be another person on the road and not be recognised."
