His search ended when he spotted Anushka Sharma, who was already cheering him on. Just before stepping onto the field for the final showdown, Virat gave her a warm wave. Anushka too, lit up instantly, smiling brightly and enthusiastically waving at her husband.

While fans eagerly wait to catch sweet glimpses of ‘Virushka’ during matches, their sweet exchange even before the game started left fans swooning over their adorable bond. Former skipper of the Indian team, Virat Kohli has impressed the nation with his stellar form throughout the tournament. After a slow start against Bangladesh, he bounced back with an unbeaten century against Pakistan. In the semi-final against Australia on March 4, 2025, Kohli’s half-century cemented India’s successful pursuit, putting the team into the grand finale. 

Virat Kohli is currently the frontrunner for the Player of the Tournament award, having scored 217 runs in just 4 matches, which includes a century and a fifty. If he manages to score 46 more runs, Kohli will surpass Chris Gayle’s record to become the all-time leading run-scorer in Champions Trophy history. So far, Kohli has amassed 746 runs from 17 matches across four editions of the tournament.

Anushka Sharma’s work front

While Anushka Sharma continues to be a pillar of support for Virat on the cricket field, fans are eagerly waiting for her return to the silver screen. The actress was last seen before her marriage in the 2018 film, Zero, co-starring Shah Rukh Khan. After a long hiatus, she is all set to make a comeback with the film, Chakda 'Xpress, a sports biopic on Indian cricketer, Jhulan Goswami. The film is directed by Prosit Roy and produced under her banner, Clean Slate Filmz. The release date of Anushka’s upcoming film is yet to be announced, but anticipation is already sky-high.

After winning the toss, New Zealand opted to bat first and has posted a score of 247 for 7 so far.
