While the remarkable game shown off by the players are indeed a reason, one cannot forget the enthusiastic participation shown by the team’s owner, Shah Rukh Khan himself. The actor was seen cheering for his team relentlessly on the stands on every game, and his sporting spirit has surely motivated the players significantly.
In a recent conversation with Fever FM’s Beyond The Boundary podcast, eminent cricketer, Virender Sehwag opened up about an unheard anecdote about Shah Rukh Khan. The legendary sportsman recalled Shah Rukh Khan and his son, Aryan Khan attending the party after the World Cup 2007 win. Sehwag recalled having a candid chat with the then-young boy, Aryan, wherein he advised the latter to suggest his dad, Shah Rukh to not do certain things in life. Reminiscing their conversation, Virender Sehwag said:
“I noticed that Aryan was sitting alone. So, I went and sat next to him. We talked for quite some time. I even told him to advise his father not to do certain things. He responded, asking, ‘He’s my dad, how can I tell him such things?’ We had so much fun. Even now, whenever we meet, Shah Rukh Khan fondly recalls how I entertained his son.”

Well, Shah Rukh Khan has been a much-loved personality in the cricketing world, especially due to his enthusiasm towards cricket. He is the owner of the IPL cricket team, Kolkata Knight Riders, who recently lifted the trophy for the 2024 season. As a result, several cricketers have shared a beautiful bonding with the actor over the years. For instance, earlier, during an interaction on KKR’s YouTube channel, the former captain of the team, Gautam Gambhir recalled fond anecdotes about the actor. He recalled SRK supporting him during his bad phase in the career and said:
“He told me you will not drop yourself, whatever happens, you will play all the games. And then things turned around.”
In the same interview, Gautam Gambhir also spoke about his past tenure as the captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders and claimed that Shah Rukh Khan was indeed the best owner with whom he has ever worked with. Gautam credited the actor for trusting him with all the decisions for the team, and added how SRK never questioned him for anything.
