Vishal Jethwa Reveals If Janhvi Kapoor Ignored Ishaan Khatter At Cannes, Says 'She Didn't Take..'

Janhvi Kapoor, Vishal Jethwa, and Ishaan Khatter recently attended the 78th Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of their latest film, Homebound. While the film was lauded, the presence of the three leads at the festival took a controversial turn after a viral video surfaced online, sparking an online debate. Now, one of the leads, Vishal, has come forward and revealed what actually went down during their appearance at Cannes.

Vishal Jethwa reflects on Janhvi Kapoor allegedly ignoring Ishaan Khatter  

Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter have been in the headlines for their rumoured rift for a while now. However, these speculations gained pace after a video from the Cannes Film Festival surfaced, showing Janhvi seemingly ignoring Ishaan's hand on the red carpet. The clip made netizens wonder if the speculation about the cold war between the Dhadak co-stars had any reality, but before the netizens could draw a conclusion, Vishal came and saved the day.

Vishal Jethwa, in a candid conversation with Zoom, addressed these rumours. He recalled the clip, which showed Janhvi seemingly brushing off Ishaan's hand, walking away from the red carpet and then entering the venue. Vishal spoke about the viral video and cleared the buzz around the alleged trouble between the lead pair, Ishaan and Janhvi. He revealed that he has seen Ishaan and Janhvi work together, and they are extremely comfortable with each other. Vishal added that despite their past, the duo are each other's well-wishers and talk very nicely to one another. Vishal was quoted as saying:

"Maine Ishaan aur Janhvi ko kaam karte dekha hai aur wo bohot hi comfortably kaam kar sakte hain. Wo dono ek doosre ke well-wisher hain. Bohot ache se baat karte hain."

Vishal Jethwa further addressed the dress situation and revealed that he was trying to help Janhvi Kapoor with her outfit. However, he was struggling to hold it properly. He added that Janhvi, too, had her hands occupied with the dress as she was climbing up the stairs and might have been unable to take Ishaan Khatter's hand for the same reason. He was quoted as saying: 

"At Cannes, I remember holding her outfit’s trail and was struggling to figure out how to hold it properly. I was just trying to help her. And when Janhvi was climbing up, Ishaan was offering his hand. She was holding her clothes, which is probably why she didn't take his hand."

In the same conversation, Vishal further defended Janhvi Kapoor. He asserted that she is a very sensible person, and doing something like that would be absolutely out of character for her. He added that she would 'never do anything disrespectful' and shared that no one in the team was thinking about the video of the incident.

Homebound's big premiere at Cannes

Neeraj Ghaywan's got his second Cannes premiere with Homebound after Masaan. The film received a 9-minute standing ovation, winning over the audience and leaving the entire team emotional. It was a big moment for Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, and Vishal Jethwa as it marked not only their first film premiere at Cannes but also their debut at the film festival.
