Popular Malayalam actor, Vishnu Prasad, passed away due to liver ailment. His daughter was unable to collect funds of Rs. 30 lakh for his treatment.

South Actor, Vishnu Prasad Passes Away To Liver Issues, Daughter Struggled To Collect Rs. 30 Lakh

A wave of sadness has passed through the Malayalam south industry. This is because popular Malayalam actor, Vishnu Prasad, passed away on April 2, 2025. He took his last breath in a private hospital in Kochi, and according to a NDTV report, his cause of demise was due to a liver issue. The report mentioned that for the past few days, the condition of the actor was critical. He was all set to undergo a liver transplant, but had a lot of financial woes and then destiny had a different plan.

Vishnu Prasad's daughter could not collect Rs. 30 lakh for his liver transplant

 As soon as the news broke that Vishnu passed away, his sea of fans poured their condolence messages on his social media feed. Everyone in the Tollywood film fraternity has become emotional with the sudden passing of the actor. A recent report by the Onmanorama revealed that Vishnu's family members and friends were unable to collect the amount of Rs. 30 lakh needed for his liver transplant. Vishnu's daughter was also willing to donate a part of her liver to her dad. However, the family needed the cash in order to cover the pre- and post-surgery expenses. Reportedly, The Association of Television Media Artistes (ATMA) did raise the initial fundraising, but by May 1, 2025, the condition of the actor deteriorated, resulting in his demise.

Vishnu Prasad's friend, Kishor Satya confirmed the death of the actor

Vishnu's dearest friend, on May 2, 2025, took to his Instagram handle to share a picture of the actor and spoke about Vishnu battling an illness for a long time. He offered his condolences to the bereaved family of the actor at this time of grief. Kishor's post read:

"Dear friends, a sad news... Vishnu Prasad has passed away. He had been undergoing treatment for an illness for quite some time now. My condolences."

Seema Nair remembers her bond with Vishnu Prasad

Seema, who worked with Vishnu in Gokulam, opened up on her bond she shared with the late actor. Seema took to her Facebook handle to share a snap with Vishnu and wrote that he bid farewell. A bond of many years comes to an end. Their connection began when his son, Appu, was just six months old. Vishnu came to act as her started. Seema remembered when she went to the hospital to meet the actor and also shared a few jokes with him. She called him a 'lone tusker'.

Vishnu was a talented actor who had created a strong base in the South Indian cinema industry. He has left behind his two daughters,  Abhirami and Ananika. He is known for his roles in movies like Kasi (2001), Kaiyethum Doorath (2002), Runway (2004), Mambazhakkalam (2004), Ben Johnson (2005), Lokanathan IAS (2005), Pathaka (2006), and Lion (2006). Vishnu was also known to do good Malayalam TV serials.

When Vishnu Prasad's on-screen sister, Beena Antony, told the actor not to give up

Beena, had taken to her Instagram handle to remember her brother, Vishnu. She shared that he gave up on life at a very young age and that they have been friends since he played her younger brother in a serial. She remembered:

"I have told him many times directly that he should not give up on life. There is no point in saying anything more. Everything is over. Farewell dear brother. May he rest in eternal peace,' wrote Beena Antony on Instagram."
