Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya are two of the most popular names in the television industry. While the actress has cemented her name in showbiz with serials like Ye Hai Mohabbatein and Banoo Main Teri Dulhan, Vivek, on the other hand, rose to prominence with daily soaps like Kavach and Qayamat Ki Raat. The duo first met on the set of their serial, Ye Hai Mohabbatein, gradually fell in love and tied the knot in 2016. To date, Divyanka and Vivek remain one of the ‘it’ couples in Tinseltown.
In an interview with ETimes TV, Vivek Dahiya revealed that before getting married to Divyanka, the two had a thorough discussion about how they would handle the latter’s immense popularity. He knew that Divyanka had been among the most popular actresses in the Indian television industry, and the doting husband understood and acknowledged her popularity. During the conversation, Vivek mentioned that the day he proposed to Divyanka, the same night, the two met with her family and discussed at length the outcomes of the actress’ popularity. He said:

“When I got into a relationship with Divyanka, I knew that she is a star, it was not like she became a star later on and I also knew that I’m a newbie and I came to the industry very late. When we were going to get married, and I proposed to her, the same night we had a meeting with her family and we discussed these possibilities. We discussed that it can happen that I will be compared or referred to as her husband and how will I deal with it. The meeting was more like my interview and the parents were asking me questions.”

Vivek further shared that he took a pledge that he would never compare himself with Divyanka unless she did the same. He added that he promised Divyanka’s parents that he would never let this comparison or simply being called ‘Divyanka’s husband’ ever affect their relationship. He further disclosed:
“I gave them a very clear reply that I won’t ever compare myself to her unless she compares herself to me. The day you all start thinking I’m Divyanka’s husband and that my identity is limited to that, that is the day when I will not have any control on my emotions. But as long as you treat me with respect, I’ll never let this come in our relationship. This was the pledge that I’d taken.”

“I’m only human as the years went by and as I started working, I started feeling that it’s about time that I get my own identity also. But then it did happen that at certain occasions I do feel a little dejected, I usually speak to Divyanka about this. I just voice it out to her rather than just letting myself burn in it. I just vocalise my emotions and feelings, and she respects my sentiments. From day one, she has understood me so there has never been a problem. As long as she and I are on the same page I do not care what the world thinks, how they perceive me, what they write on their cover story, it does not bother me.”
