Vivek Oberoi used to be the be most charming chocolate boys of the early 2000s decade, and he effortlessly swept through the hearts of a massive fanbase. The actor had made his debut with the 2002-released film, Company. However, it were the films like Saathiya, Yuva, Kyun! Ho Gaya Na, Kisna: The Warrior Poet among others, which established him as the most-loved romantic actors of his time. Apart from his professional career, in his personal life, Vivek is married to his ladylove, Priyanka Alva, and the duo is blessed with a son and a daughter.
In a recent interaction on Anas Boukhash’s podcast, Vivek Oberoi reminisced about his past and spilt beans on the learnings and experiences he received from his toxic, past relationships. He mentioned how those phases of his life made him realise that having a hero complex in reel life had no relation with that in real life. He particularly spoke about his public breakup in the 2000s and added how it was then only when he got a massive career setback. In his words:
“Each serious relationship teaches you. It leaves you with something. The bad breakups, the really toxic relationships teach you your patterns. They teach you what you should stay away from. Like I discovered that some of us have a hero complex, where you come in like a knight in shining armour, and say, I will take care of this for you.”

In the same revelation, Vivek added how he learnt not to give in more than desired in his relationships, just so as to be able to live up to the expectations of the partner. He mentioned how his initial gestures of overcompensating became exhaustive for him. Vivek added:
“It’s not easy to constantly be on this pedestal, and live up to the expectations that you’ve created for yourself. Then you make the other person used to, if they’re not manipulating you, to become used to expecting that of you. And now you can’t change. You can’t just say, ‘We’re equals, let’s carry the load together’, because that’s what makes a good, honest relationship. That’s what I learned from toxic relationships, it’s so important to break the pattern.”
In a previous interview with Mashable Middle East, Vivek shared his take on being sidelined in the film industry. He mentioned getting frustrated over and over again, as he faced rejections and failure continuously. Moreover, he mentioned that he knew who was responsible fo such a fate to his career, and although he didn’t take any names, but added that he knew who the person was, considering it an open secret.

In a previous interaction with Pinkvilla, Vivek Oberoi had spoken about his past relationships and the bitter experience each one of them left behind. The actor mentioned feeling undervalued and mentioned how he didn’t receive the same amount of respect he showed. In his words:
“So my experience in love at that point was one where I felt very let down, I felt undervalued. I felt that what I had done and what I had given in my relationship vs just the respect just the acknowledgement of that was missing. And that made me very cynical and very bitter.”
