The Men in Blue made India proud by winning the 2026 T20 World Cup. They defeated New Zealand and lifted the trophy. While players like Sanju Samson and Jasprit Bumrah hogged the limelight for their battling and bowling performances, it was head coach, Gautam Gambhir who stole the spotlight. In recent times, he was criticised for his team selections and Team India’s poor performances in Test cricket.
However, Team India’s latest win seemed like a befitting reply to trolls who doubted Gautam’s perseverance. Coming to his personal life, he is a caring and supportive husband to his wife, Natasha Jain. The couple has been happily married for 14 years. They are parents to two daughters, Aazeen Gambhir and Anaiza Gambhir. But do you know Gautam was absent when his wife, Natasha, delivered their first baby? Yes, you read it right. Read on to know the reason.

In a 2014 interview with Hindustan Times, Gautam shared that when his wife’s due date arrived, he was away due to an IPL match. The head coach mentioned that at the time, players were not allowed to carry mobile phones into the dressing room on match days. However, when he switched on the phone, he was anxious. Gautam stated that even if he was there beside his wife, Natasha, he couldn’t see her in pain. He credited his wife and his mom for handling the pregnancy well. He was quoted as saying:
"There were days I’d think Natasha may have delivered when the game was on, and later I would switch on the phone with all the anxiety in the world. In hindsight, I don’t think I’d have been able to handle the pressure of seeing my wife go through labour. I can’t see my family in pain. I am proud of my wife and my mother who handled the entire pregnancy so well. I’ve always respected mothers, but seeing what my wife went through to get our baby into this world has only increased my respect for my mother."

In a past interview with TOI, Gautam Gambhir shared that after getting married to Natasha Jain, things had changed in a good way. He explained that after a bad day, he has someone to talk to. Earlier, things were pathetic as there was no one with whom he could share the problems. He added that even if it was a good day, he had a partner with whom he could share his happiness. He was quoted as saying:
"After a bad day, there's someone in the room waiting for you, you can go out with her, talk about something else. Earlier, when you had a bad day and there's no one else, it felt pathetic. Now you can share how you feel -- that made a huge difference. It's very lonely at the top, but when you have your partner with you on the go, at least that's taken care of because she understands and tries to change your mood. Even when it's a good day, there's someone to share your happiness with."

In a 2012 interview with TOI, Gautam shared that the best part about his wife, Natasha, is that she doesn’t discuss cricket. The head coach then explained that, as he is too much involved in cricket, he doesn’t want to talk about it at home. He was quoted as saying:
