Discussions of the royal wedding of Holkar dynasty descendant Yashwant Rao and Nairika the daughter of industrialist Vijay Crishna Godrej were not over, and here comes another royal wedding over the counter. We are talking about the nuptial of old titular king of Mysuru and a Wodeyar dynasty scion, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar and Trishika Kumari Singh from the Dungarpur royal family.

This royal wedding took place at Amba Vilas Palace in Mysuru on June 27, 2016 in a full-fledged traditional manner. It's after nearly 40 years that this palace was decorated for a wedding.

The Maharaja of Mysore, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and the princess, Trishika Kumari knew each other since their childhood. In an interview with BBC, Yaduveer’s father, Swaroopanand said:

“They knew each other for a long time, they were childhood friends.”

The royal marriage of Boston-educated, 24-year-old Yaduveer and 22-year-old princess Trishika Kumaritook took place in the main Durbar Hall of the palace in the auspicious Karkataka lagna. It was a completely traditional wedding and the wedding rituals lasted for two days. Kamashidevi, grandaunt of Yaduveer said:
“It was a typical south Indian Mysorean wedding. There was a small pooja [religious ritual] for the bride before the wedding ceremony began. Normally, in our families, the girl adapts to the traditions of the boy’s family.”
Wedding rituals began in the morning with groom performing Ganapati pooja and the bride performing Gowri pooja. On the wedding day, Yaduveer could be seen wearing the royal crown and a cream bandhgala and his bride dazzled in a red and gold saree.

Before walking the traditional seven rounds around the holy fire, the couple poured rice over each other according to the rituals.

For over 2,000 special invites were sent for the grand event on June 28, 2016. Invitees included top politicians such as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his Cabinet colleagues, diplomats from consulates of several countries as well as erstwhile royal families from all over the nation. There is another reception party that will be held on July 2, 2016 in Bangalore.
This royal couple will give public appearance together for the first time in a decked pageant within the grounds of the palace on June 29, 2016. On being asked about the total cost of the wedding, M Lakhsminarayana, CEO of Mysore Palace, declined to comment, but said:
“there was no extravagance”.
Yaduveer is the 27th king of the Wodeyar dynasty, and was crowned as King on May 28, 2015 after his grand uncle Maharaja Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar passed away.
