Why Did Spencer Lofranco Disappear From Hollywood After 2018? Here's What We Know Amid His Death

Canadian actor, Spencer Lofranco, best known for his roles in Jamesy Boy and Gotti, has died at the age of 33. The news was confirmed by his brother, Santino Lofranco, on Instagram, who described him as a 'legend' who had transformed the lives of others. According to TMZ, authorities in British Columbia and Canada are still investigating to confirm the cause of his demise. Spencer Lofranco's death on November 18, 2025, came as a shock to his fans, especially those who had wondered what happened to him after he left Hollywood. 

Why did Spencer Lofranco disappear from Hollywood after 2018? 

Spencer Lofranco was considered one of the most promising stars in the early 2010s. He worked as a leader in Jamesy Boy, co-starred with Angelina Jolie in Unbroken, and later appeared in King Cobra. However, after playing the role of 'John Gotti' in Gotti with John Travolta, he suddenly left the glamour world. According to IMDB, the film was his final credit, and since then, his disappearance has left fans curious.

One part of the mystery goes back to a hit-and-run case from 2013 involving Spencer. The case again made headlines in 2015 when the victim, cyclist Camille Banham, testified in court. According to CBS Los Angeles, Spencer had struck her with his vehicle, which left her with a broken hip and multiple fractures. Although he got down to apologise, he left the scene without helping her. Consequently, he was given 50 days of community service, two years of probation, and an order to pay USD 161,000 in restitution. There is no clarity on whether the case directly affected his career, as several other stars with more serious charges continue to work. Yet, it may have been a contributing factor to his disappearance from the Hollywood scene. 

After 2018, Spencer Lofranco was difficult to track. Still, his fans would occasionally witness activity on his low-follower Instagram account. Some of them claim he briefly returned to social media before deleting all his posts. Later in 2021, Spencer appeared in TikTok livestreams where he claimed that he no longer cared what people thought about him. He continued to upload some videos under an unverified TikTok account in early 2025. However, he had disabled the comments section. These few digital activities suggest that he did not entirely disappear, but rather intentionally stepped away from fame to lead a more private life.

Just six days before his demise, Spencer Lofranco shared what became his final Instagram post. He uploaded an old photo of himself and mentioned that he planned to remove his face tattoos, joking that he might 'start an OnlyFans account' soon. Spencer hinted at hope for the future, penning, "The best is yet to come." This final message has become viral after his death. While authorities have no confirmation about the cause of his death, his family has not made many public commitments apart from his brother.
