What Happened To Sam Beal? Ex-NFL Player's Sister Says He Has Been Missing For Seven Months

"What happened to Sam Beal?" This one question has been echoing all over social media and across sports circles after the ex-NFL player's sister revealed that he has been missing for nearly seven months. The New York Giants' cornerback, who was last seen on the field during the 2019 season, was reported missing after he vanished from Virginia Beach in July 2025, with no reported contact since.

Sam Beal's sister seeks help in finding him

On Monday, January 12, 2026 (ET), Sam Beal's elder sister, Essence Zhane, took to Facebook to extend a public plea to help find the NFL alum, revealing that no one has seen or heard from him since he went missing in mid-July 2025. Sharing a copy of his ID, his missing persons report, and details of his last-known location, Zhane wrote: 

"Tomorrow makes it seven months since we've last heard from or seen my brother. We've done everything we could on our end to piece things together, and at this point, we're in desperate need of support on all ends."

Beal's sister further wrote that the family isn't looking to answer any speculation or discuss the "whys and hows". In the emotional post, she urged anyone and everyone to give her "some form of answers or closure", adding that the pain of his traceless disappearance has been weighing heavily on the family for months. Before sharing the NFL player's last-known details, Zhane wrote:

I'm not here to answer a bunch of whys and hows. I just need this to land in the right direction to gain some form of answers or closure. I'm a Big sister, and I need my brother to know that We Love You and miss you, and this has been a heavy feeling for months to carry around."

The last known moments of Sam Beal before he went missing

According to the missing-persons report on the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs), Sam Beal was last seen on July 12, 2025, after he dropped his girlfriend off at her home. He was supposed to drive to work and had borrowed his girlfriend's car. However, he supposedly travelled towards Virginia Beach, where the car was later found, abandoned. 

On July 13, Beal had called his girlfriend, telling her he was in Virginia Beach and had been planning to drive home. However, he never made it back. That was also the last time anyone had heard from him. The online case report reads:

"Samuel has not been heard from or seen since the phone call on 07/13/2025. Samuel did not bring anything with him aside from the clothes he was wearing, a pair of slides, and his wallet that contained his banking card and driver’s license."

The missing persons report states that Beal did not take any personal belongings with him beyond what he was wearing at the time. He is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall, weighing around 185 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair, a short beard, and a muscular build. 

Who is Sam Beal?

Samuel Beal, aka Sam, was drafted by the New York Giants in the third round of the 2018 supplemental draft. Since the beginning, his NFL career has been marred by interruptions. During his rookie season, he was knocked out after suffering an injury during training camp. Again, during his 2019 game, he suffered a hamstring injury, but returned in November. The next season, he opted out of games due to the Coronavirus pandemic, and in 2021, the Giants officially waived him. Throughout his short NFL career as a cornerback, Beal scored a total of 26 tackles, out of which 20 were solo.

As the months pass with no leads, Beal’s family is urging anyone with information to contact the missing persons investigators in Virginia Beach or the Kentwood Police Department in Michigan.
