Dileep's Ex-Wife Manju Warrier's Controversial Speech, Turning Point In The Case, Led To His Arrest

Malayalam actor, Dileep is leading the headlines at the moment, as he was acquitted after an eight-year trial on December 8, 2025. It was in February 2017 when a leading Malayalam actress was allegedly abducted and s**ually assaulted inside a moving car while travelling from Thrissur to Ernakulam. Soon, it became one of the biggest controversies in the Malayalam film industry.

The actress, who was assaulted, filed a complaint the same night, and the next day, a driver named Martin Antony was taken into custody. Soon, a name, ‘Pulsar Suni’ emerged as the key accused in the case. One after another, many names made headlines. Five months after the incident, leading Malayalam actor, Dileep was arrested, and police stated that the crime happened because of personal animosity.

Dileep was named the mastermind of the plan and was accused number 8. There were ten accused in the case, namely Pulsar Suni, Martin Antony, B. Manikandan, V.P. Vijesh, Saleem, Pradeep, Charlie Thomas, Dileep, Sanil Kumar, and Dileep’s friend G. Sharath. It was only after the controversial speech of Dileep’s ex-wife, actress, Manju Warrier, which subsequently made him an accused.

Manju Warrier’s controversial speech, which led to Dileep’s arrest

During the protest meeting held days after the actress’s assault, Dileep’s ex-wife, Manju Warrier, gave a speech, which indirectly pointed out the possibility of a ‘criminal conspiracy’. She spoke about the incident and called it the most ‘unfortunate’ event to have happened in the industry. Manju also revealed that the actress, who suffered the assault, was a close friend of hers.

Going further in her speech, Manju Warrier gave a subtle hint about the chances of bigger names being involved, while calling the case a ‘criminal conspiracy’. Without taking anyone’s name, Manju shared:

"I pray that no woman should ever have to face such an ordeal again. Many drivers, including the ones standing here, have safely dropped us home at midnight. So there is no point blaming every colleague. But what has happened here is a criminal conspiracy. We can only offer our full support to bring those behind this crime to justice. A woman deserves the same respect from a man—inside the home and outside—as she gives him. That is the message I want to convey.”

Manju Warrier revealed the victim had informed her about Dileep’s extramarital affair

After Dileep’s arrest in the 2017 assault case, it was reported that the crime was committed because of some personal grudge. Soon, his ex-wife, Manju Warrier’s statement was recorded, and she alleged that her divorce from Dileep happened due to his illicit relationship with actress, Kavya Madhavan. Manju also revealed that it was the victim who had informed her about Dileep and Kavya’s extramarital affair.

In her statement, Manju revealed that after her wedding to Dileep, she cut herself off from the industry and didn’t interact with anyone. But when she got to know about Dileep’s affair with Kavya from the victim, she got clarity. Her statement can be read as:

“I divorced Dileep in 2015 and the extramarital relationship between him and Kavya was the reason behind it. Even before we separated two years before that, there was constant friction between us regarding his relationship with Kavya. And at times, that has paved way for major fights between us. What I heard from the assaulted actor only reinforced what I already knew about the two.”

Dileep’s alleged personal grudge against the victim led to the assault

As per the Kerala Police, Dileep had conspired and paid money to the prime accused, Pulsar Suni, to kidnap the actress and sexually assault her. According to the case, Dileep wanted Pulsar Suni to record the sexual assault and give the footage to him. This, according to the prosecution, was Dileep's way of exacting revenge from the actor who had revealed his extramarital affair to Manju Warrier.

Dileep’s acquittal and his accusation against Manju Warrier

On December 8, 2025, Dileep was acquitted in the kidnapping and assault case. Shortly after the verdict, the actor spoke to the press and accused his ex-wife, Manju Warrier of ‘conspiracy’. Dileep spoke to the reporters stationed outside the court and said:

“It was done to destroy my career, image, and life in society. It was Manju Warrier who first suggested that there was a criminal conspiracy in the case. That was when the conspiracy against me began.”
