Euphoria fame, Nika King, is set to return for the third season of the renowned OTT series. The cast of the much-awaited season 3 of Euphoria has been announced by its makers, and among the list of stars set to reappear is Nika King. Euphoria season 3 is set to premiere in 2026 on HBO after a three-year-long wait.
Nika King will reappear on the show as 'Rue’s' mother, 'Leslie', Bennet, along with Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Alexa Damie and other cast members. Nika joked about facing financial problems because of the long delay in the release of season three. Here’s what we know about Nika King and her return for the third season.
Born as Shenika Williams, Nika is a popular American actress, comedian and producer. Nika is best known for her role in Euphoria as 'Rue’s' loving and caring mother, 'Leslie Bennet'. Her comedic acting and performances in shows like Greenleaf and films like, Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot made her a rising star.
Nika was born on August 20, 1979, in Miami, Florida and has five siblings, two of whom are named Teesha Williams and Mars Payne. She is an African-American who takes great pride in her Miami roots. Nika’s mother, Sharon Allen, is a chef and three-time cancer survivor who raised her and her five siblings as a single parent. Nika’s performance in Euphoria is influenced by her parents’ and uncle’s struggle with dr*g addiction during her childhood.
Nika had a tough teenage and childhood, but she found her solace in performing arts. She started modelling and joined her school’s drama club, bringing her resilience and spirit into her career. Nika attended the Miami Carol City Senior High School, where she served as class president and was an active member of the drama club. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. Nika moved to Los Angeles and started training at The Groundlings School, to sharpen her skills as an actress. Her education blended theatre, leadership, and comedy, which set the stage for her versatile career and striking performing skills.

Nika began acting in 2002 with the TV movie, Miss Miami, as the chief of police. She appeared in CSI: Miami in 2003 as 'Delicious'. In 2004, she performed small roles in films like, 50 First Dates and Living the Dream in 2006. She switched her name to Nika Williams in 2009 and then adopted Nika King by 2019. Her comedy career took off with Elite Delta Force 3, an all-Black female sketch group, and stand-up at venues like the Improv Lab, where she hosts Nika King & Friends.
Nika also had guest appearances on Hannah Montana in 2006, iCarly in 2009, Modern Family in 2001, 2 Broke Girls in 2013 and NCIS: Los Angeles in 2016. She also wrote, starred in and produced the web series, Funny Married Stuff, which aired from 2016-2018. However, Nika gained fame for her role as 'Leslie Bennet' in Euphoria, which aired from 2019-2022 and is returning for a season three in 2026. Nika also starred in Kevin Hart’s Guide to Black History in 2019, where she portrayed 'Josephine Baker' and 'Nevine’s' mom in 65 in 2023. In 2024, she played 'Donna Martin' in Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, which she also executive-produced.
Nika has earned awards and recognition for her performances in various films and TV series. In 2015-2017, she was nominated as part of the ensemble for the, Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance in a comedy series, Orange Is the New Black. In 2019, Nika was nominated for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Euphoria. In 2024, she won the SXSW Film Festival and Heartland Film Festival as executive producer for Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot.

Nika is a 46-year-old unmarried actress who is a huge advocate of Mental Health and marginalised communities through her nonprofit, Rose of Sharon. She often speaks about these issues on her Instagram. Nika is a mentor for young artists via Jeli Life and hosts multiple comedy events.
In an interview with the Today Show, the 47-year-old actress shared her experience working alongside Zendaya and opened up on their strong bond both on and off the screen. She shared:
"As the season went along, we became more like family. I met her mother a couple of times, and so I saw it as an opportunity to really just connect with her on a level that is just beyond an actor. And Zendaya's so beautiful to work with, it really was easy."
'Rue's' younger sister discovered her sibling's passed-out body after she overdosed and suffered a significant trauma. In the upcoming season, Nika says that she hopes 'Gia's' trauma and perspective are some things that will be explored further.
