Amitabh Bachchan and his wife, Jaya Bachchan are counted amongst the most evergreen couples in the Hindi film industry. The couple is blessed with two kids, Shweta Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. They have been staying happily with each other for more than 50 years and have been one another's strongest support system through thick and thin. However, once one of their close friends, the late politician, Amar Singh, who was a member of the Rajya Sabha representing the Samajwadi party, revealed that Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan have been living separately. This was quite enough to stir Amitabh and Jaya's fans, who hail the couple for their bonding.
In a 2017 interview with ABP Majha, Amar Singh claimed that his close friend, Amitabh Bachchan and his wife, Jaya Bachchan were living separately in two different homes. The late politician mentioned that Amitabh and Jaya had taken this move in their marriage much before meeting him. Thus, he can't be given the onus of the same. While Amitabh was living in Pratiksha, Jaya was living in Janak. However, Amar was not sure about the reason behind their differences. In Amar Singh's words:
"Even before I met Bachchans, Amitabh and Jaya were living in separate houses. One of them was living in Pratiksha and the other lived in Janak. When I was with them, then too they weren’t living together."

Not only that, in another report from India.com, the late politician, Amar Singh claimed that his close friend, Amitabh Bachchan also once warned him from taking the latter's wife, Jaya in his political field. He claimed that the actor had mentioned the reason behind this was Jaya's inconsistent nature and habits. While this was shocking enough for Amitabh and Jaya's massive fans, Amar also mentioned how Amitabh, in reality, has a Bagh-ujar personality, unlike his character in the film, Baghban. Amar Singh had said:
“Mr Bachchan, according to me, is contrary to Baghban (gardener), the role he played on screen. Off screen, he is Bagh-ujar (uprooting a garden), at least emotionally. I am saying this on record.”
In the same conversation, the late politician, Amar Singh also mentioned Amitabh and Jaya's son, Abhishek Bachchan and his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's humble behaviour toward him. Amar mentioned that both Abhishek and Aishwarya have treated him with the utmost respect. However, he also revealed that Jaya doesn't share a beautiful relationship with her daughter-in-law, Aishwarya, leaving the Bachchan fans shocked. Amar Singh was quoted as saying:
"I am accused of making Aishwarya and Jaya Bacchan fight. For everything bad happening around, I am being held responsible"

In 2007, when Jaya Bachchan appeared on the talk show, Koffee With Karan, she revealed how a void in her and her husband, Amitabh Bachchan's life, was created when their daughter, Shweta Bachchan was married off. And this vacuum in their lives was filled with the arrival of their bahu, Aishwarya Rai, into their home. Further, Jaya mentioned that every time her husband used to see their daughter-in-law, his eyes used to light up. In the same conversation, Jaya also lauded her daughter-in-law, Aishwarya Rai for being extremely responsible in her work. The doting sasu maa mentioned how her bahu, despite being a big star in the industry, also gives equal importance to her family.
