Did you know the actor, Ranjeet, wanted to cast Rekha for his directorial debut film, Karnaama but because of her timing issue, the role went to Farha Raaz? Here's what he had revealed about the controversial actress. In an old interview, Ranjeet had opened up about Rekha's love life and had said that she wanted to keep her evenings free. He had said:
"One day Rekha called and requested if I could move to a morning shift as she wanted to spend evenings with Amitabh Bachchan."
At that point, Dharmendra was in the lead role, and he had recommended Anita Raaj as the female lead. But later, late actor, Vinod Khanna, filled up Dharmendra's place, and the movie was made. Rekha and Amitabh were seen together last in the film, Silsila, along with his wife, Jaya Bachchan, directed by Yash Chopra in 1981. When Mr Bachchan was asked why he was not sharing screen space with the ever-beautiful Rekha, Big B gave a blunt reply. In an interview, he had said:
"We haven't had a suitable story come our way."
And when he was asked if he would be willing to share the screen with the actress next on a good script, Mr Bachchan had said:
"Sure."
When Amitabh Bachchan denied his relationship with Rekha, the actress had revealed that Big B is an old-fashioned family man. She had said in an interview with Filmfare:
“Why should he have not done it? He did it to protect his image, his family, his children. Why should the public know of my love for him or his love for me? I love him and he loves me- that’s it! If he’d reacted that ways towards me in private, I would have been very disappointed. Mr Bachchan is still old-fashioned. He doesn’t want to hurt anybody, so why hurt his wife?”
Even after so many years, Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan's secret love affair gets the limelight.
