Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' Releases On OTT With A Twist, Know When And Where To Watch The Action Film

It's been almost a month since the blockbuster film, Coolie, was released. The film that marked Rajinikanth's comeback to action films, made a lot of headlines and earned very well at the box office. Now, the film, Coolie, starring Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna is all set to release on OTT platforms but with a shocking twist. Read on to know when and where to watch the film. 

Rajinikanth’s Coolie will release on Amazon Prime Video

On September 4, 2025, Amazon Prime Video took to their official Instagram handle to announce that the blockbuster film, Coolie is all set to premiere on their OTT platform. The film will stream from September 11, 2025, onwards and fans will be free to watch the action-thriller film in any language they prefer. While sharing poster of the film, Prime Video captioned it as:

"Get ready to vibe with the saga of Deva, Simon, and Dahaa. #CoolieOnPrime, Sep 11."

Coolie will premiere on Amazon Prime Video with a shocking twist

While fans across India and worldwide were waiting for Coolie to release on an OTT platform, the official announcement by Amazon Prime Video has left several fans disappointed. The streaming platform revealed that the film will not be released in Hindi. Instead, it will be released only in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. This has confused a lot of viewers as Rajinikanth and Nagarjuna have a huge pan-India fan base. While there is no confirmed reason as to why the film isn't releasing in Hindi, this decision might limit the film's reach in North India.

Coolie is a 2025 Tamil-language action thriller film, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures. The story follows 'Deva', a former coolie, who turns into a fighter after his friend dies under a suspicious situation. While investigating more about the death, 'Deva' finds out several hidden secrets like a smuggling group. Eventually, he gets pulled into a web of revenge, betrayal and violence. 

Apart from Rajinikanth as the lead actor, the film stars talented actors like Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Upendra, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Rachitha Ram, and special appearances by Aamir Khan and Pooja Hegde. The film was released in theatres on August 14, 2025, and was highly appreciated by viewers. In 21 days, the film earned more than Rs. 510 crores worldwide.

Rajinikanth, who was born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad is one of India's biggest superstars. He was born in Bengaluru and worked as a bus conductor before shifting towards acting. He made his acting debut in 1975. Rajinikanth began his career with supporting or negative roles and later, appeared as the lead in films. Over the years, he has appeared in films like Robot, Jailer, Kabali, Baashha, Padayappa, Sivaji, 2.0 and more. 

For his amazing contributions to the cinema, the legendary actor, Rajinikanth has received honourable awards like Padma Bhushan in 2000, Padma Vibhushan in 2016, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. Even now, the aura of Rajinikanth remains the same. He manages to pull thousands of people to watch his films. Apart from films, he is also known for his charitable gestures. He has often donated funds during crises.
