When Lata Mangeshkar Talked About Her Decision Of Never Marrying And Having Children

Late legendary singer, Lata Mangeshkar had left an entire nation teary-eyed on February 6, 2022. From her millions of fans across the world to her family, everyone is remembering the glorious life of Lata, who was lovingly known as the nightingale of India. She had a career span of seven decades and she had given voice to some of the renowned personalities on screens.

Lata had spent almost eighty years in the public eye. However, she had managed to stay away from rumours and gossip. While there were rumours featuring her link-ups, Lata had always maintained a dignified silence on reports of an alleged romance. Once in an interview, Lata had talked about her decision of never marrying.

In a 2013 interview with the Hindustan Times, Lata Mangeshkar had opened up on the role of marriage, love, and children in her life. When she was asked about the lucky man to whom she had given her heart. Lata beautifully had stated that some matters are only for the heart to know. She had said:

"There are some things only for the heart to know. Let me keep it that way."

Further in the interview, Lata had talked about people's thinking that a woman is incomplete without marriage and children. She had said that people talk about a lot of things and we have to learn to ignore them. The singer had also stated that she believes in staying away from negative energies. She had shared:

"People talk all sorts of things, so learn to ignore them. Else, it’ll be difficult to lead a happy life. Energies that are negative and depressing should be kept at bay. I have always done that."

Talking about her decision not to marry, Lata had shared that once Kiran Rao had said that we need to first find happiness within ourselves. She had also said that if we don't achieve the first step, then finding happiness through marriage and children lose its meaning. 

Lata Mangeshkar was born in Indore and has been the voice for many screen legends. She had started her singing journey at the age of thirteen in 1942. She had sung over 30,000 songs in her seven-decade long career. She was also a receipt holder of several awards including, Padma Bhushan, Dada Saheb Phalke and many more.

Lata Mangeshkar will always live in the hearts of her millions of fans!
