No matter how old we get, some life lessons we must never forget and try to stay connected with our roots. Neetu Kapoor had experienced that proud moment when her son, Ranbir Kapoor had touched his father, Rishi Kapoor’s feet at an award function. Before moving on to that, let us throw some light on the father-son duo. Rishi Kapoor had married Neetu Singh in 1980, and are proud parents to Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Ranbir Kapoor. In a throwback interview with Rajeev Masand, Ranbir had revealed that as a kid, he was petrified of his father. When Rishi ji would ask him to eat his vegetables, Ranbir would start crying. He had reminisced the time when his foodie father, Rishi ji would take him to fancy restaurants in the US and make him try different cuisines. When asked whose reaction he had dreaded for his debut release, Ranbir had revealed that it was his father’s because Rishi ji is very honest even if he’s talking about his family and will call spade a spade.
On April 30, 2020, Rishi Kapoor had left everyone in a state of shock as he passed away, leaving behind wife, Neetu Kapoor and children, Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni. He had shattered the hearts of millions of his fans and since then, they have been resorting to his throwback pictures and videos to bring back those beautiful memories that the actor has left us with. Scrolling through social media, we caught hold of a throwback picture of Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor from the Stardust Award function as their son, Ranbir Kapoor touched his father’s feet on-stage. The beautiful picture captured the doting mother smiling with pride and it is indeed, a sight to behold.
According to The Times of India, in one of his previous interviews, Ranbir Kapoor had recalled how once his father, Rishi Kapoor had lost his cool and slapped him. When Ranbir was 12 years old, there was a puja at his residence and unknowingly he had worn slippers to the place of worship. Rishi ji, who is quite short-tempered, had lost his cool and slapped him. In a 2015 Mumbai Mirror interview, Rishi Kapoor had spoken about how he had ‘screwed up’ his relationship with Ranbir Kapoor and the ‘glass wall’ between them. Rishi ji had stated, “My father gave me space when I moved out after marriage and I give Ranbir his space too when he decided to move out and share a home with his girlfriend. In this house, he had one room: how could that be enough for a 33-year-old boy? He’s a great son, he listens to me but I don’t interfere in his career because my career is mine and his is his. I know I’ve screwed up my relationship with Ranbir even though my wife kept telling me about what I was doing. It’s now too late to change it; both of us will not be able to adjust to the change. It’s like there’s this glass wall, we can see each other, we can talk, but that’s it. He doesn’t live with us anymore, which is also a very big setback to Neetu and me. We’re building a new home where there will be a lot of place for him and his family. Till then, life goes on.”

Rishi Kapoor had revealed that he is proud of his son, Ranbir Kapoor for fostering a respectable image among his peers and gives the credit to his wife, Neetu Kapoor. Rishi ji had remarked, “I’m told, and I’m very proud of it, that Ranbir is very well behaved, polite, down to earth, decent, cultured, well spoken, warm, and respects his elders. The credit for all this goes entirely to Neetu. I was diametrically opposite when I was his age, being arrogant and brattish, but what the hell? It was 1974, I was being paid a salary of Rs 5 lakh a month and half the world was crazy about me.
