Bollywood actress, Rani Mukerji, who made her acting debut in 1996 with Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, is considered one of the finest stars of all time. It was in 1998, when she left the audience spellbound with her performances in the films, Ghulam and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and established herself as one of the top female actresses of her generation. However, back then, Rani had no idea that one day she would become a leading heroine just like her idols, Sridevi and Rekha.
Over the years, Rani has won many awards for her acting spree, but above all, she managed to win millions of hearts with her down-to-earth nature. The actress, who is loved by millions of fans, has often left everyone surprised whenever her name was involved in some controversy. While Rani has many alleged catfights and love affairs attached to her name, the one with Jaya Bachchan is still not known to many. So, let us tell you about the ugly spat between the two actresses.

There is no denying the fact that Rani Mukerji was once madly in love with Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan's son, Abhishek Bachchan. However, according to multiple media reports, Jaya was not happy with her son, Abhishek's relationship with Rani and never wanted them to get married. She despised Rani for being too arrogant and loud and asked her son to stay away from the actress. Reportedly, Abhishek obliged his mother's demand and parted ways with Rani, before finally tying the knot with Aishwarya.
Later, a major cold war took place between Jaya Bachchan and Rani Mukerji on the sets of the Yash Raj Productions film, Lagaa Chunari Mein Daag. In the film, Rani played the role of 'Badki' who was the elder daughter of 'Savitri' aka Jaya Bachchan while Konkona Sen Sharma portrayed the role of the younger daughter. Rani, who was once very close to the Bachchan family, was not invited to her ex-boyfriend, Abhishek's wedding, which became the reason for a cold war between her and Jaya. On the film sets, Jaya Bachchan formed a group with Konkona Sen Sharma, while Rani was seen keeping to herself. According to a report in India Forums, a source close to Rani Mukerji revealed how Jaya would often tease the actress and piss her off. Talking about one such incident, the source stated:
"Once in between shots, as Jaya and Konkona were sitting separately from Rani, the veteran actress looking and hinting at Rani, asked Konkona whether she would lend her infectious laughter to her for a day. To which, Konkona replied with a huge laugh. This pissed off Rani further. Since then a lot of tension is felt on the sets whenever they are around."
The report further added how Rani Mukerji was also pissed at her co-star, Abhishek Bachchan while shooting for the film. It so happened that the shooting was kept on hold following Abhishek Bachchan's marriage and his subsequent one-month-long honeymoon to Tahiti. Despite being the busiest actress of that time, Rani had to reschedule her shooting dates for the month of April and May. The source close to the Ta Ra Rum Pum actress was quoted as saying:
"Apparently, Rani is also miffed with Abhishek Bachchan as she had to reschedule her shooting dates for the month of April and May because of his wedding followed by his month-long honeymoon to Tahiti. Some crucial scenes between her and Abhishek and Jaya have still remained to be shot. Rani is amongst one of the busiest actresses in the industry today and wasting so many days is not beneficial for a professional actress like Rani."
On the personal front, Rani Mukerji tied the nuptial knot with the well-acclaimed director of B-town, Aditya Chopra, in 2014, in an intimate wedding ceremony. And after a year of married bliss, the couple was blessed with a baby girl, Adira Chopra.
