Yusuf Ibrahim Recalls The Time SRK Warned A Fan Over An Unpermitted Selfie: 'Stars Are Human Too'

Shah Rukh Khan enjoys an unparalleled fan following in India and abroad. The undisputed Badshah draws massive crowds wherever he goes, and his charming personality makes him even more attractive to common folks. However, there are times when fans forget their limits and don’t respect stars’ boundaries just to take a picture with them. SRK’s former bodyguard, Yusuf Ibrahim recalled one such event when a fan wanted to snag a selfie of the superstar without permission.

Yusuf Ibrahim recalls how Shah Rukh Khan politely reprimanded an overzealous fan

In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, celebrated security consultant, Yusuf Ibrahim recalled an incident, revealing how SRK once politely but firmly reprimanded a fan for attempting to take a selfie without permission. As his former bodyguard, Yusuf emphasised the importance of respecting personal boundaries, even when the person is a celebrity, as it not only disturbs their personal space but also creates opportunities for some pages to capture such moments without context. Yusuf said:

“The media often looks for moments they can catch and make viral. But stars are human too. When someone suddenly barges in for a photo, especially when they might have a different mindset at the time, it’s not acceptable. Fans need to maintain boundaries and show respect. Instead of rushing in with a phone, they should politely ask if a photo is possible."

Yusuf Ibrahim shares the gruelling lives of stars

Yusuf also shed light on the demanding lives of stars behind the camera, and how it becomes challenging for them to spare some personal time for themselves, away from fans and media frenzy. He remarked:

“Fans should understand that stars are human as well. Watching a video and making judgments is easy, but the reality of their lives is much more challenging. Fans will think their life is much easier once they see a star’s life. They work incredibly hard behind the scenes — sitting in makeup for hours, staying under harsh lights for 12 hours straight. In between all this hard work, they get very little personal time. If someone invades that space, especially when they’re exhausted after a long day, it’s natural for anyone to get upset or irritated. They are human, after all, and reactions like that are understandable."

When SRK’s mistimed visit to Ajmer Sharif created chaos and frenzy

Yusuf also recounted a chaotic episode during SRK’s visit to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah during an IPL season, where thousands of fans gathered to sneak a glimpse of the superstar. Despite such madness, Shah Rukh remained composed, understanding the excitement of his admirers. Yusuf praised SRK’s temperament, saying:

“When we went there, the whole town of Ajmer knew that Shah Rukh was coming to the Dargah. There was so much public… police had to do lathi charge to disperse them from there. There was so much madness… Shah Rukh is damn cool when such situations happen, he knows that it’s not anyone’s fault – neither staff nor fans. It’s just the excitement of his fans… the temperament is always cool, nice and easygoing."
