Kajol and Ajay Devgn never took each other on romantic dates before marriage. In fact, they were dating two different people and used to ask for suggestions from one another. From being the best on-screen couple of the '90s to becoming life partners in 1999, their journey was quite filmy. Their love story started with friendship, and the rest is history.
Not many know, but after tying the knot with Ajay Devgn, Kajol's father had denied talking to her for four days. However, despite going through thick and thin, the couple had managed to be each other's pillar of strength and have grown stronger with time. Together, they have two beautiful kids, Nysa Devgan and Yug Devgan.

In an old interview, popular filmmaker, Suneel Darshan, who worked with many Bollywood superstars in the late '90s and early 2000s, revealed that Kajol’s in-laws did not want her to work after marriage. Suneel said he got to know about this from Kajol’s mother, Tanuja, when she invited him to her house. He added how Shilpa Shetty had to replace Kajol in the film, Jaanwar, as she backed out at the last minute due to family problems. He said:
“Kajol was supposed to do the role that eventually went to Shilpa Shetty in the film Jaanwar. She was locked for it, to be honest, verbally locked. But we got to know later. One day, Tanuja ji called me to her house and broke the news. She said, ‘You know, she’s getting married, and they don’t want her to pursue a career’. I said no problem, it had been a pleasure, they had been very nice to me.”
Kajol had tied the knot at the peak of her career, and her decision was criticised by many. Earlier, in an interview with Pinkvilla, Kajol had called her decision to get married the best decision of her life. The actress had said that she had been working for nine years and marriage was important for her to lead a calm life. In her words:
“It was the right thing for me to do at that point of time. I had been already working for around eight and a half to nine years. So, I was ready to kind of calm down on my work front and kind of take it easier.”

In an old conversation with a media portal, Kajol had narrated a hilarious incident from her honeymoon. Kajol had revealed how she went on a world tour with Ajay, but he wanted to return because he felt exhausted. She had stated:
“We went on a honeymoon for two months. It was actually a condition that I had put forward before our marriage. I wanted to tour the world on our honeymoon. So we booked the tickets. We went from Australia to Los Angeles to Las Vegas. We were in Greece. It was already 40 days. One morning, he woke up and told me that he had a fever and headache. So I told him I’ll get medicines for him. But he just kept saying that he was not well. When I asked him what we could do, he said ‘Let’s go home!’ I asked him, ‘Home? For a headache?!’ He said, ‘I’m really tired.”
We love how Kajol and Ajay maintained a healthy marriage despite many ups and downs.
