Actress-turned-author, Twinkle Khanna has always been vocal about her unsuccessful acting career. Daughter of veteran actors, Dimple Kapadia and late Rajesh Khanna, the gorgeousness ventured into Bollywood and made her acting debut opposite Bobby Deol in the film, Barsaat in 1995. Later, she went on to star in films like Mela and Itihaas. On the personal front, Twinkle is married to Akshay Kumar, and the couple is blessed with two kids, Aarav and Nitara.
In 2015, Twinkle Khanna sat for a candid conversation with Mid-Day and talked about her acting talents. She revealed that she doesn't let her kids, Aarav and Nitara watch her films as even her son makes fun of her acting. Talking about the same, Twinkle shared that Aarav keeps replaying a clip from the movie, Jaan, in which she is seen kissing actor, Ajay Devgn's nipple. Revealing details about the same, she said:
“I don’t let my children watch my movies. And my son is an a**. There’s a scene in Jaan, and he’s going around… I can’t say this. He keeps replaying this clip, where I’m kissing some man’s nipple. And they made a collage of this for my birthday. It’s sick!”
Twinkle Khanna's acting career was not as glorifying as her actor-husband, Akshay, and her legendary actor parents. Taking a dig at the same, the witty author also mentioned that her family is not very supportive of her career. In her words:
“I don’t think my family’s being very supportive about this ‘great’ career.”
Even though Twinkle was a prominent face in the Hindi film industry in the 90s, she revealed that she didn’t enjoy it. She also talked about her interest in knitting and reading books and added that she just wanted to go home while she was on the sets. Twinkle mentioned that she felt bad for living up to the image of being a popular actor and added:
“There’s a difference between a job and a career. I didn’t enjoy it. All I wanted to do was go back home and read books. There were times when I was sitting and knitting on set, and my spot boy would come and say, ‘Aap mat kariye, sab aunty ji bolenge’. I had to live up to this image, but I wasn’t that person."
For the unversed, the film, Jaan was directed by Raj Kanwar in 1996 and featured Ajay Devgn in the titular role. Coming back to Twinkle’s acting career, she was last seen in the film, Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega, which was released in 2001. However, after that, she ventured into the field of writing and transitioned into a successful columnist. Twinkle has proved her mettle in writing with some of the bestselling books, including Mrs Funnybones, Pyjamas Are Forgiving and The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. Meanwhile, she also conducts interviews on her platform, Tweak India.
Twinkle Khanna is also popularly known as Mrs Funnybones, courtesy of her literary works and witty characters.
