Owen Cooper stunned all with a historic win at the 77th Primetime Emmy Award. He clenched the title of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for his debut role in the Netflix miniseries, Adolescence. His win at the 2025 Emmys at just 15 years of age made him the youngest actor ever to win the prestigious award. His parents, Andy Cooper and Noreen Cooper, watched him from the audience and definitely felt immensely proud of him.
Owen Cooper secured his debut Emmy win for his debut show, Adolescence, which is a phenomenal achievement. During his acceptance speech on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, his words had the same depth and profundity that his on-screen character, 'Jamie Miller' had. The teenage actor began by expressing his shock, stating that the award win was 'so surreal'. He encouraged others to step out of their comfort zones, saying, 'Who cares if you get embarrassed? Anything can be possible.'
Owen recalled his path to success, noting that he was a nobody in the industry just about three years ago, but with his hard work, he made it to the esteemed Emmys stage. He dedicated the award to those working behind the scenes, stating that although the award may bear his name, it truly belonged to all the people who helped make the series a success. Owen also expressed gratitude to his parents as well as his fellow cast members and the show's creators, Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne. During his emotional speech, he said:
“Honestly, when I started these drama classes a couple years back, I didn’t expect to be in the United States, never mind here,” Cooper said on stage. But I think tonight proves that if you listen and you focus and you step out of your comfort zone, you can achieve anything in life."
Andy Cooper and Noreen Cooper, the proud parents of Owen Cooper, were present at the 2025 Emmys to watch their son accept the prestigious award in the supporting actor category. Besides being loving parents of Owen, they are also professionally established. Noreen works as a caregiver, and Andy is an IT professional, as shared by the 15-year-old Emmy-winner to The Express.
