Every now and then, an influencer becomes tabloid fodder for their controversial actions, and this time, the spotlight has again fallen on the already infamous TikTok star, Ash Trevino. The 36-year-old influencer recently found herself in a chaos far more serious than her viral livestreams.
Trevino, whose real name is Ashley Lopez-Trevino, was arrested Wednesday night, December 17, 2027, in Venus, Texas, after police discovered active felony warrants tied to her name. Given her massive social media presence and her infamous “prison wife” stories, her arrest blew up in no time. Here’s why the influencer is so controversial, and everything we know about her arrest.

Trevino was detained on Wednesday at around 7:50 p.m. after officers located her in the front yard of her home. According to a statement to PEOPLE by the Venus Police Chief, James Groom, she was taken into custody “without incident” through active warrants issued by the Waxahachie Police Department.

The influencer was booked into the Ellis County Jail, where records show she later posted a bond worth USD 15,000 and was released the same night. More details are yet to come regarding the specific felony charges tied to Trevino’s warrants. No injuries, disturbances, or public safety issues were reported.

Not long after her release, Trevino returned to social media on December 18, 2025, looking unbothered as she shared her ordeal. In videos and livestreams that circulated online, the influencer was seen laughing as she exited the jail and said she was heading to a casino. She told her fans:

“I’m going to fight this. I have a lawyer.”
Her casual stance walking out of prison has only intensified backlash, with people calling her out for turning serious situations into content and not having any remorse for her felony.

Ashley Lopez-Trevino is a Texas-based TikToker and influencer who surged to viral fame on the platform in 2021 for openly talking about her romantic relationships with prison inmates. She began her TikTok journey in 2019, while she was married to an inmate. Besides online content, she worked at a dental office in Texas up until December 2024, after which she was fired for her digital presence. Now a full-time content creator, she is the mother of two teenage daughters, Hailey and Evie.
With more than 500K followers across Instagram and Snapchat, the internet mom is a self-proclaimed “inmate hopper” who married two inmates. Popularly dubbed as the “prison wife” or the “prison inmate dater”, Trevino often records lifestreams about her personal and often explicit conversations with her inmate dates. Recently, the influencer sparked a new wave of backlash for dating a 19-year-old.

All her romantic adventures aside, the biggest criticism leveled at Ash Trevino is her treatment of her teenage daughters, Hailey and Evie. The girls were largely raised by their grandmothers and reportedly don’t even have beds in their mother’s home. Trevino claims she has full legal custody of the girls, but seeing the way they are treated, people online, as well as in her known circles, have raised concerns about their well-being.

Both Hailey and Evie are social media influencers. During the Musical.ly era, Hailey often posted videos and gained a substantial following. Evie reportedly followed a similar path and joined TikTok in 2021. However, given their mother’s controversial online presence, both girls have reportedly lost friendships. When asked about it, Trevino has brushed off concerns, saying:
“There’s nothing I can do about it. It may suck, but that is just life.”
Time and again, online critics have accused the influencer of prioritising her profit over her daughters and exploiting them for content. The teens are often seen in her livestreams, and Trevino has faced backlash for monetizing their personal struggles to the point that TikTok labelled her as the “worst mom of the year”.
One incident that sparked massive backlash occurred earlier this year, when TikTok's "crazy mom" livestreamed while Evie was admitted to the hospital. The influencer recorded her daughter’s struggles and asked her viewers to “send a galaxy” to receive updates about Evie’s health. Many viewers agreed this move crossed a line by turning a child’s illness into a source of income. In recent months, many users have begun mass-unfollowing her, questioning why the algorithm continues to amplify her content.

No specifics are currently available about her felony warrants, but the case is expected to proceed through the Texas legal system, with more information likely to emerge in the coming weeks. For now, her arrest has added yet another chapter to Ash Trevino’s already polarising internet persona.
