Who Is Ashish Kapoor? TV Actor, Dated 10-Year-Younger Co-Star And An Albanian Model, Rape Suspect

Indian television actor, Ashish Kapoor is facing intense backlash after being accused of sexual assault. He is currently in custody in Pune, detained by the Delhi Police on rape charges. Ashish, known for his role in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, is now under scrutiny online following the alleged victim's account of the incident. As a result, his past behaviour with women and previous relationships are being reexamined.

Who is Ashish Kapoor?

Ashish Kapoor is a popular face on Indian television. He began his career in 2010, having previously worked as an interior designer. He is best known for his role as 'Prince Udayveer Singh' in the show, Dekha Ek Khwaab (2011-12). He made his debut in the horror series, Ssshhh... Phir Koi Hai (2010) impressed the audience with his acting. With his charming looks and impressive projects, he has earned a devoted fan base. He is best known for his role as 'Nikhil Deora' in the long-running show, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.

His other works include Woh Apna Sa, Saraswatichandra, Savitri, Saat Phere: Saloni Ka Safar. Besides TV serials, he also appeared in the reality show, Love Marriage Ya Arrange Marriage as 'Saahil Sisodiya'. Ashish is currently making headlines for allegedly threatening and assaulting a drunken woman at a house party.

Ashish Kapoor dated a 10-year-younger co-star

Ashish Kapoor and his Dekha Ek Khwaab co-star, Priyal Gor, were in a relationship in 2012. The actors began dating after growing close during filming of the show, where they played the lead couple. The reel pairing became real, and their relationship was broadcast live to their fans. At the time, Priyal was around 18 years old, and Ashish was 28 years old. In August of that year, reports emerged that the couple had broken up as the show was going off the air.

After Priyal and Ashish's split, he said that they remained friends and stayed in touch without any bitterness. However, Priyal had something more to say about it. In a 2016 interview with The Times of India, she opened up about why the relationship was not meant to last, citing her too young at the time. The actress also shared how different they were from each other, which created issues between them. Opening up about the increasing distance between them, she said:

"The relationship was a big mistake. I was only 18 then. That's too young an age to indulge in matters of the heart. We grew apart as our wavelengths did not match; he is more outgoing and modern, while I am homely."

Ashish Kapoor's second shot at love with an Albanian model

Ashish Kapoor dated Albanian model, Ilda Kroni for approximately two years, starting in mid-2017. They met through a common friend in Kapoor's hometown of Delhi. He confirmed the relationship in an interview in November 2017, stating that he had been seeing Ilda for six months. The couple then frequently made headlines for their romantic vacations, with Ashish posting affectionate photos on social media. In January 2018, rumours emerged that the couple had secretly got engaged after dating for eight months.

Reports claimed that Ashish proposed on December 31, 2017, and the engagement ceremony took place at his Mumbai residence. However, he himself publicly denied the engagement news at the time. At that time, he also told Tellychakkar that 'it's too early to talk about marriage'. He later posted a couple of photos with Ilda, with its caption further fuelling the engagement rumours. The post can be read as:

Ashish broke up with Ilda after dating for a short while, and then dated TV producer, Pearl Grey, from approximately 2021 to 2022. The relationship began while they were working together on the show, Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya 2. In April 2021, the couple exchanged rings, although Kapoor later referred to this as not a formal engagement, but rather a public declaration of their commitment. During this period, they got matching tattoos that read, 'till death do us apart'. After about a year of being together, the couple's relationship ended on a bitter note in August 2022.
