Dash Crofts, the American musician best known as one-half of the soft rock duo, Seals and Crofts, with Jim Seals, passed away at the age of 85. For the unversed, in 2022, Jim left for the heavenly abode at the age of 79. According to multiple reports, Dash died on March 25, 2026, due to complications of a heart surgery. Dash was widely known for his hit song, Summer Breeze.

The heartbreaking news of Dash's death was confirmed by producer, Louie Shelton. He is survived by his wife and their two children. Despite his immense popularity in the world of music, Dash preferred to keep his personal life private. Lua Crofts is widely known as the daughter of renowned musician, Dash Crofts. However, not many know that Lua made her recording debut at the age of 7, singing with her father and mother on a children’s album. In 2018, Lua and Jim Seals’ cousin, Brady Seals, began touring as Seals & Crofts 2. She is the lead vocalist of the soft rock duo, Seals & Crofts 2. Both Dash and Lua kept their private life away from the limelight; thus, very little is known about their early life. Once, Lua shared that music shaped her childhood. She was quoted as saying:

"This music shaped my childhood, and now I get to sing it with Brady in a way that’s authentic and full of love."

Earlier, in an interview with St. Pete Catalyst, Lua Crofts opened up about her dad, Dash Crofts’ legacy. She mentioned that as the daughter of Dash, she knew the hits of the band, but when she and Brady began working as a team, they uncovered some wonderful songs from the catalogue. She highlighted that she thinks its her deep responsibility to carry on with his legacy. She added Jim Seals and Dash Crofts' contribution to the band. She was quoted as saying:

"I feel like I’m at the helm because Dash is my dad, so I feel a really deep responsibility. Because they really protected their legacy. They were two men of faith, so they really had not only a musical standard but a spiritual standard that they lived to. So I’ve been very, very careful about how I present myself, and their music. I really want to be protective of who they are, and who they were."

Dash Crofts passed away at the age of 85

Dash Crofts’ death has left the music industry mourning. On the early morning of March 26, 2026, producer, Louie Shelton first announced the death of Dash. Taking to his Facebook account, he shared a snap of the legendary artist and confirmed his demise. A family member told TMZ that Dash died due to complications from heart surgery. He wrote:

"Sad to hear our dear brother and partner in music has passed away today. Sending love and prayers to all his family and many fans. R.I.P. my brother.....Dash Crofts."

Dash Crofts began his career as a drummer with the band, Dean Beard and the Crew Cats, where he met fellow Texas musician, Jim Seals. Before forming their own band, they worked in The Champs. In 1969, Seals and Crofts were formed by Dash and Jim. However, they split in 1983 and later in the ‘90s and 2000s, they reunited. Together, they gave many hits, including Summer Breeze, Diamond Girl and Get Closer.
