Jutta Leerdam is a world-champion speed skater

Born on December 30, 1998, in the Netherlands, Jutta began skating from a very young age and would skate on tracks in her hometown. By the age of 11, she realised that speed skating was what she wanted to do. Before her love for speed skating, Jutta played field hockey but admitted that she was never a team player.

Jutta won her first major title at the 2017 World Junior Championships in Finland. She specialised in sprint events and won her first major individual title in 2020 at the European Championships in the 1000-meter.

Jutta Leerdam is a six-time world champion and made her debut as an Olympian at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. In the women’s 1000-meter skating event, Jutta won a silver medal. Elated with her debut win, Jutta revealed:

“I was pretty happy with the time. I thought it was going to be slower after that corner. It's my first Olympics, I was going for gold, but I'm happy with silver.”
