Amid this heartbreaking news, know more about his wife, Lynne, who stood by him through every thick and thin in life.

Dick Cheney had a long career in public service, and throughout it all, his wife, Lynne Cheney, stood by him. They met as teenagers and continued to be each other's pillar of support until he passed away at the age of 84. Dick and Lynne first met in high school in Casper, Wyoming, and got married in 1964. She has co-founded the American Council of Trustees and Alumni to promote academic freedom and liberal arts education. At the same time, she authored multiple books on American history and culture, like The Virginia Dynasty: Four Presidents and the Creation of the American Nation.

Dick Cheney and Lynne welcomed two daughters, Liz and Mary. Both their daughters have carried on their parents' legacy in different ways. Liz followed in her father's footsteps in politics, serving as a U.S. Representative for Wyoming and becoming a prominent voice within the Republican Party, with strong views on national security and constitutional issues. She married Philip Perry, and they have five children. On the other hand, May is a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and married her longtime partner, Heather Poe, in 2012. They share two children.
