The show will feature most of the original cast members returning in the spin-off, but there is one notable new face among them. Mika Amonsen has joined the cast of the new CBS series as 'Sean Reagan', the youngest son of 'Danny Reagan'. Who is Mika Amonsen, the new face of Boston Blue?

Young Canadian actor, Mika Amonsen, will be seen in the Blue Bloods spin-off, Boston Blue, as 'Sean Reagan'. He will be replacing Andrew Terraciano, who played the role on the original series for 14 seasons, from 2012 to 2024. The recasting of the character is likely to allow him to pursue his own storyline as a police officer in Boston, away from his family's legacy in New York. Regarding Mika's new, exciting role, he told TV Insider that he studied Andrew Terraciano's earlier performance to maintain the character's warmth and humour while bringing a new direction to the role.

Besides the Boston Blue role being a good opportunity for Mika to showcase his acting prowess, another benefit was that the show was filmed in Toronto, allowing him to work near his home. Mika told TV Insider that it felt 'surreal' to be stepping into the shoes of Andrew, whom he grew up watching on-screen. He has worked hard on studying 'Sean Reagan' to maintain the essence of the character and his dynamics with his 'stubborn' father. Regarding his preparation for the role, Andrew shared:

"It's kind of surreal that I was watching Andrew grow up on screen back then, and now I'm stepping into that same world. I went back to his later episodes to study his dynamic with Danny and his humour. And I've tried to carry over that warmth, his dad's stubborn streak, and a quiet intelligence that really feels like a Reagan."

Mika heaped praise for his on-screen father, Donnie Wahlberg, noting his duality as a jovial, happy-go-lucky guy behind the scenes and a dedicated professional while filming. Andrew also recalled how Donnie helped him with his acting tips, including what it's like to be a part of long-running franchises. The new joinee, called Donnie 'generous', told TV Insider:

"Donnie is incredible! He's full of energy, cracking jokes, and the second the cameras roll, he's laser-focused. He's also been so generous, both as a scene partner and by giving me advice on stepping into long-running franchises. He makes you feel like family from day one."

Mika Amonsen's career switch from music to acting

Mika Amonsen started his career in music and then transitioned into acting. He was the lead guitarist for a Toronto rock band before he became an actor. His group produced an album and opened for Canadian rock artist, Kim Mitchell. After stepping into acting, Mika Amonsen trained at Armstrong Acting Studios in Toronto. His film and television career began in the late 2010s. Before Boston Blue, he had roles in several TV shows and movies. His credits include Designated Survivor, Christmas Encore, Suits, Good Witch, Midway, Hudson & Rex, The Republic of Sarah, Murdoch Mysteries, EZRA, Thanksgiving, and a popular K-drama, Pachinko, featuring Lee Min Ho and Kim Min Ha.

Does Mika Amonsen have a girlfriend?

Back in May 2024, Mika Amonsen told Hero Magazine that he had a girlfriend who was a talented musician. He referred to her as his 'soon-to-be-wife'; however, they might have broken up since the actor isn't reportedly married yet.
