Popular Pakistani actress, Mawra Hocane is leading the headlines as she recently got married to her soulmate, Ameer Gilani, in Lahore. There were rumours about Mawra and Ameer’s affair, but when pictures of the two from their nikah ceremony surfaced on social media on February 5, 2025, their fans couldn’t hold their excitement.
On February 5, 2025, Mawra Hocane took to her IG handle and posted an array of pictures from her wedding with actor, Ameer Gilani. Mawra looked gorgeous in a pastel mint blue-toned lehenga with purple and red tones on the kali. She styled her lehenga with a unique choli design and a dupatta, which was tucked over her head and accentuated her bridal look further.
She completed her look with a dainty neckpiece, matching earrings, a passa and a maang teeka. On the other hand, Ameer looked handsome in a charcoal-coloured kurta with pathani salwar and a doshala. Sharing the pictures, Mawra penned:
“And in the middle of chaos… I found you. BISMILLAH 5.2.25.”

Mawra Hocane began her career as a VJ at ARY Musik, after which she began her career in TV with the show, Khichari Salsa. She proved her acting prowess with shows like Aahista Aahista, Ik Tamanna Lahasil Si, Nikhar Gaye Gulab Sare, Mein Bushra, Maryam, Sammi, Sabaat, Neem and a few others.
Mawra was born Mawra Hussain in Karachi and is the younger sister of actress, Urwa Hocane. Mawra changed her name from Hussain to Hocane when she was in seventh grade to give it a unique spelling. Apart from having a degree in Fashion Design, Mawra also holds a degree in Law from the University of London. She earned her first paycheque at the age of 13, which was PKR 8000.
Mawra Hocane made her Bollywood debut in 2016, with the romantic tragedy, Sanam Teri Kasam, opposite Harshvardhan Rane. She played the role of a South Indian girl and won a lot of applause for the same.
Mawra Hocane faced social media harassment in 2015 when she supported the Indian film, Phantom, starring Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif. She posted a tweet about the film, which was banned in Pakistan. Her tweet could be read as:
“#phantom is against terrorism. A terrorist can't belong to any country. A terrorist is a terrorist." She followed it up with three more tweets, including one that said that if Phantom "is anti-terrorism, Then yes I'm anti-terrorism, it doesn't matter which land I belong to. I'm pro-humanity & love & that's that."
As soon as her tweets went viral, Pakistani netizens started trolling the actress. Well-known Pakistani actor, Shaan Shahid also demanded an immediate ban on Mawra for promoting an anti-Pakistani film. Mawra penned an open letter to all her fans in her defence.
In 2014, Mawra Hocane’s personal life came under the limelight when reports of her engagement surfaced. It was reported that Mawra was engaged to her boyfriend, Aamish Azhar, and they were spotted with each other at multiple events. She also changed her relationship status from single to engaged. However, if rumours are to be believed, Mawra and Aamish’s engagement was broken in 2015 due to reasons best known to them.
Mawra once stated that she was obsessed with the Bollywood hunk, Ranbir Kapoor. After Ranbir Kapoor broke up with Katrina Kaif, his name was linked to many actresses, including Mawra. They were even spotted spending time with each other in Berlin. But when asked about the same to Mawra, she vehemently denied it and said:
“There is nothing for me to say about this, as nothing I say will be enough to put these rumours to rest. People who are close to me know the truth so I don’t need to clear the air.”
Mawra Hocane and Ameer Gilani first shared screens in the Pakistani dramas, Sabaat and Neem. Their on-screen chemistry left their fan in awe. Soon, their social media posts with each other and public appearances together started their dating rumours. However, the duo never confirmed or denied the buzz. Mawra and Ameer surprised their fans by posting mesmerising pictures from their intimate nikah on February 5, 2025.
