Who Is Rekha's Sister, Radha? Her Mistake Made Dimple Kapadia A Star, Quit Acting, Never Looked Back

Rekha is one of the finest actresses in Bollywood. The actress, who has been a part of the film industry for almost seven decades, still never fails to wow her fans with her beauty, grace and timeless elegance. Fans love seeing the actress glowing like the queen she is. However, did you know that the actress had a sister who could have been one of the biggest faces in the film industry?

Rekha's sister, Radha, was once a top model and the next big star

Rekha is one of the finest actresses in Bollywood. Her contribution to the film industry is undeniable, and she remains as iconic as ever. However, while we have known and loved Rekha for over four decades now, did you know her sister, Radha, was also once a contender to become the next big star? Yes, you heard that right; Rekha's sister was once a top model and could have been among the biggest names in Bollywood. 

Rekha is known to keep her family and matters related to them private. For the unversed, the actress has six sisters and a brother from her father, Gemini Ganesan's multiple marriages. Gemini Ganesan had four daughters from his first wife, two daughters from his second wife, Pushpavali, also known as Rekha's mother, and then a daughter and a son from his third wife, Savitri. Rekha, however, has only one real sister, Radha. 

Just like Rekha, Radha was also one of the well-known faces in the industry. She was gorgeous and worked in the modelling industry, before making her way to the film world. According to the reports, Radha not only appeared in several Tamil movies but also participated in photoshoots for some of the biggest magazines at the time. However, her interest leaned more towards modelling than acting. 

Radha's one mistake made Dimple Kapadia a star overnight

If the reports are to be believed, Radha was all set to make her big Bollywood debut alongside, Rishi Kapoor in Bobby. Raj Kapoor had initially offered the role to her, but she rejected the film, and it went to Dimple Kapadia. As fate would have it, the film, Bobby turned out to be a massive success, turning Dimple into an overnight star and proving to be a blockbuster at the box office. 

Radha quit acting and moved away from India

While Rekha built a name for herself in the film industry, Radha didn't like what it had to offer. She did not enjoy the fame and popularity and decided to leave. Radha left the film world in 1981 and tied the knot with her childhood friend, Usman Saeed. She soon after moved to the United States and settled there. For the unversed, Usman was the son of South cinema's famous director, S. M. Abbas. Radha and Usman have two sons who are also now married.
