Netflix series, Adolescence swept the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, winning several accolades. Stephen Graham, actor and co-creator of the show, clinched his first Emmy for his performance as 'Eddie Miller', the father of the lead, i.e., the young perpetrator, 'Jamie Miller' (Owen Copper). Stephen Graham won the award in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series category; however, the win was as much his wife's as it was his. For the uninitiated, his better half, Hannah Walters, co-produced Adolescence and also appeared in a cameo role in the series.
Indian fans of Adolescence might have just been treated to a sweet gesture in appreciation of the love and support they showed for the Netflix show. Stephen Graham, who won his first Emmy on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, said a 'namaste' to conclude his acceptance speech. It made his Indian fans extremely happy, who shared the clip of the moment on social media. Besides his fans, the Adolescence star also thanked his colleagues and wife, Hannah Walters, for the show's success.
Born on January 19, 1974, Hannah Walters is an English actress, producer, and director. She is married to actor Stephen Graham, and they co-founded the production company Matriarch Productions. The Leicestershire, England resident picks scripts for her husband and is the pillar behind his success. Hannah learnt acting at Rose Bruford College in Sidcup, southeast London, like Stephen. Talking about her stint there, Stephen had only appreciation for her. As per him, she was 'brilliant' and said:
"I watched Hannah back in the day at drama school and always thought she was brilliant."
Hannah Walters, who is also an executive producer on the Netflix series, Adolescence, made a cameo appearance in episode two of the Emmy-winning show. She played 'Mrs. Bailey', a teacher at Bruntwood Academy, who tried to serve as an aid in the police investigation of 'Jamie Miller'. Her special appearance included speaking with the victim's best friend and attempting to persuade her to assist in the investigation. Although her role was minor, it had a significant impact.

Hannah Walters collaborated with her husband, Stephen Graham, on various projects, including the co-production of Adolescence, through their company, Matriarch Productions. She also collaborated with Stephen in films and series such as Boiling Point, A Thousand Blows, and This Is England. Hannah stepped into acting in 2006 with a small role in The Thieving Headmistress, followed by her notable role as 'Trudy' in Shane Meadows' film, This Is England, in the same year.
Her memorable lead roles include those in Whitechapel, No Offence, Malpractice, and the series This Is England '86. Actors, Stephen Graham and Hannah Walters met while training at Rose Bruford College, a drama school. They were best friends for years, and later, he confessed his love for her when she was planning to move to Spain. In 2019, Stephen recounted the story on BBC's Desert Island Discs, explaining that his feelings for Walters ran deeper than friendship. Hannah responded positively to Stephen's proposal, stating that she had been waiting for five years for him to say that. The next day, they moved in together and got married on June 6, 2008. Now, they are parents to two children, daughter, Grace and son, Alfie.
