Recently, a video has been circulating like wildfire on the internet of former child star, Tylor Chase. This video has left viewers both shocked and worried, as it shows the ex-Nickelodeon actor looking homeless and nearly unrecognisable on the streets of California. His footage has sparked broader discussion about mental health, financial security, and the entertainment industry in general.
For those unversed, Tylor rose to fame at a very early age when he joined the popular Nickelodeon series, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. The series continued to air for nearly four years, and Tylor's portrayal of 'Martin Qwerly' quickly became a favourite with viewers at the time. While his adult life has taken a rather complicated and unexpected turn right now, his early career definitely showed great promise and brilliance. If you're curious to learn more about him, here's everything we know, from his early life and background to his career and current mental health challenges.

Tylor Chase was born in the United States, in Arizona, on September 6, 1989. While growing up, according to reports, he showed a strong interest in entertainment and the performing arts. He soon turned his interest into a career by entering showbiz at a young age, like most performers driven by both financial gain and artistic pleasure.

Now that the videos in which he appears homeless have surfaced, it leads us to wonder whether an ordinary upbringing would have been better for him compared to growing up in the entertainment industry. As you might already guess, young performers like him had to deal not only with rigorous schedules but also with intense public scrutiny. On top of this, they also had to learn how to cope with being thrown into adult settings. It is safe to say that Tylor's experiences as an adult were significantly impacted by his life in the spotlight.

Tylor's first acting credit came when he was only a preteen, while for Nickelodeon's Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide series. Owing to its popularity, the show reportedly ran from 2004 to 2007. As the show's cast, including Tylor were pretty young, those who watched the show were also preteens and teenagers. What made this show stand out amid the rest was its humour, relatable school events, and unique storytelling approach.

Marking his big break, Tylor played the role of 'Martin Qwerly' here, a memorable yet socially inept character. His performance on the show was so impressive that it helped viewers recognise him right away.

You might be mistaken if you thought the Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide series was all Tylor's acting career has to offer. Following his Nickelodeon popularity, he acted in the family film, Good Time Max, which was released in 2007. He also appeared in some well-known shows, such as Everybody Hates Chris.
Apart from acting in front of the camera, many people might not be aware that he was also behind the voice of 'Hank Newborn' in the video game, L.A. Noire. This highly regarded game came out in 2011. With this, Tylor successfully added another noteworthy dimension to his portfolio in addition to demonstrating his range as an actor.

While Tylor had no trouble finding acting gigs as a child, this was no longer the case when he transitioned into adult performance. Sadly, it's quite a common occurrence in Hollywood for most kid actors. The sudden loss of popularity can have a hugely negative impact on one's emotions, and to top it off, the reduction in work can also lead them to struggle financially.

For Tylor, when the chances of continuing his career as an actor diminished, he sought new creative channels. For one, he started a YouTube account under his real name where he posted a variety of stuff from his personal musings to spoken-word pieces and poems. While these videos showcased the former actor's depth of emotion and desire to express himself beyond traditional acting roles, his overall YouTube channel was not a major hit with audiences. At the time of writing this article, his channel, which has 57 videos, has managed to retain only 549 subscribers. By early 2020, Tylor's online presence had declined significantly, and he soon completely vanished from the public eye.
Tylor himself has never issued a public statement about struggling with his mental health. However, over the years, his struggle has not gone unnoticed, and many who are close to the former actor have voiced their concerns about his well-being. If reports are to be believed, what he is facing, like anxiety, sadness, and identity issues while trying to navigate a life outside of stardom, are common symptoms among former child actors. If they are not checked quickly and lack robust support networks, these difficulties do not take long to get worse over time. According to Tylor's family members, he not only has trouble working steadily at a job and managing his finances, but he is also bad at getting medical or psychological care on a regular basis.
It's been years since anyone knew what Tylor was up to. However, the former actor found himself in the spotlight once again when clips of him living on the streets of Riverside, California, went viral on social media. In the video, Tylor introduced himself to the person filming and revealed that he was indeed the former Nickelodeon star we all grew up watching.

What are your thoughts on Tylor Chase transitioning from a successful child actor to now living on the streets? Let us know.
