Why Did The Audience Watch Akshay Kumar Starrer 'Housefull 5A' More Over '5B'? Know All About It

After a long break, Bollywood got to see the release of a comedy entertainer film in the form of Housefull 5. It not only marked the return of Akshay Kumar in his nostalgic comedy avatar, but also featured a star-studded ensemble cast with popular stars like Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, among others. But, amid the comedy, mystery, glam and fun, something made Housefull 5 a topic of discussion. For those wondering, we are talking about the two climax concepts used by the makers when they made the film with two different endings to the same story. However, Housefull 5A ended up being more successful than 5B. If you are also wondering why? We have an answer.

Why did the audience prefer to watch Housefull 5A than 5B? 

Housefull 5 released in the theatres on June 6, 2025 and the ongoing buzz about the film's varied climax has made people curious about it. For those unaware, Akshay Kumar's new film is a comedy thriller which focuses on finding a killer on a cruise ship and each ending presents a different killer. Audiences were given the option to choose between Housefull 5A or 5B when they booked tickets online. At the same time, equal screens and slots were divided between them. However, within a short time, Housefull 5A became a preferred choice, especially in Mumbai, Thane, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur and more.

Later, more cinema owners reallocated the seats, giving a preference to Housefull 5A. In turn, Housefull 5B shows were reduced. Still, some cinema houses stuck to an equal distribution, and others removed the 5B version. When the news made people curious, some exhibitors like Kiritbhai T Vaghasia of Friday Cinema explained that many people were unaware of the two climax concepts. While others felt that Housefull 5B was a continuation of 5A, both reasons made the audience choose Housefull 5A.

Apart from these reasons, an exhibitor from North India revealed that some online digital ticket booking platform had set a default booking setting for Housefull 5A. So, it led to higher bookings for that version. At the same time, the chain reaction of the confusion among fans increased Housefull 5A's popularity. 

Housefull 5 has beaten the lifetime earnings of Salman Khan's Sikander 

Despite the high preference towards Housefull 5A, screen allocation and technical issues, Housefull 5 has emerged as a success at the box office. As per Sacnilk, the film started on a strong note by earning Rs. 31 crore at the box office. It grew strong over weekends by collecting Rs. 31 crore and 32.5 crore. Now, the total earnings of the film stand at Rs 115.99 crore in comparison to Sikander's Rs. 109.9 crore. However, it might face competition from the release of Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par on June 20, 2025, which would later be available only on a pay-per-view model.
