Cardi B reveals reason for waiting to announce her pregnancy at a specific time

Cardi B's pregnancy news didn't come as a shock to the masses because many had already predicted the development. Speculation about her impending motherhood had been underway since her court appearances a few weeks ago. However, Cardi B shut down the rumours back then, and she finally shared the reason with CBS Mornings' host, Gayle King. The rapper mentioned that she waited to share the news with her fans until the time felt right.

According to her, it was fine to do things on her 'own time', deal with things higher on her priority list and then disclose her pregnancy. She wanted to 'close some deals' before breaking the happy news to the world. By 'deals', she might have meant the assault trial that she was embroiled in since late August 2025. She had a lot on her plate back then, including regular court appearances, preparations for her new album, Am I the Drama?'s rollout, and an upcoming tour. Regarding her not hiding her pregnancy, just revealing it later, she said:

"I just was like, 'Can I just say it on my own time?' Like, I'm not hiding. On my time, on my own terms. Let me close some deals first, you know what I'm saying? Let me close some deals first."

Besides the 31-year-old's professional and legal engagements, there was another reason for the delay in the pregnancy announcement. Cardi B felt that it wasn't necessary to share the update right away. At first, she wanted to get her initial check-ups done and make sure that her baby was healthy, while she was far enough along. After a few visits to the doctor and several sonograms, she was finally ready to share her happiness with her family, fans, and acquaintances. She stated:

"And it's like, you don't really want to say right away that you're pregnant. It's like, 'Let me see a couple of more sonograms. Let my baby be healthy.'"

The Bodak Yellow singer did not tell her parents about her fourth pregnancy before announcing it publicly. It was partly because she was 'scared of' their response. She shared with Gayle that she still had to tell her parents about it later that week. She felt that her mom and dad would keep staring at her in shock. Cardi B did not reveal the reason for her parents' expected reaction. However, it might be because of her parents being worried about her getting into the new phase, shortly after going through a divorce and a highly publicised assault trial.

When Cardi B slammed disrespectful pregnancy rumours

Cardi B clapped back at a journalist making 'disrespectful' comments regarding her pregnancy on the day of her trial verdict, on September 2, 2025. The incident took place while the rapper was leaving the courthouse in Los Angeles, after winning the civil assault lawsuit. At that time, she was confronted by a reporter who asked about the paternity of a rumoured fourth child. Cardi B responded angrily, throwing a pen and telling the man not to ask such questions. She said:

"Stop disrespecting me. You're disrespectful. Don't do that. Do you see women asking me those types of questions? Why do you feel, as a man, you get to ask me those types of questions? Act like you have some manners and your mama taught you [to] respect women."
