Gloria Gaynor and Linwood Simon's love story began in the mid-1970s before music became more about hashtags and streaming charts. They met through one of Linwood's sisters when he was working for the New York Transit Police. They instantly developed a connection, and soon Linwood became a significant force in Gloria's career as her manager. In 1979, the singer underwent a complex surgery, and Linwood took care of her, and they soon tied the knot. Since Gloria had grown up with a father who was mostly absent in her life, she found a sense of security and stability in Linwood. 

The initial years of Gloria and Lindwood's marriage brought a lot of personal and professional success for the duo. Linwood supported the singer through performances, tours, and a demanding career schedule. But even as they celebrated milestones together, cracks began to form. She accused him of being unfaithful and dealing with drug addiction, but she continued to make attempts to strengthen their relationship. Gloria's reconnection with faith in the 1980s helped her step away from the marriage. 

Why did Gloria Gaynor have no kids?

Gloria Gaynor, who was married to Linwood Simon for 26 years, has no children. The duo's opposing viewpoints on having kids created a deep divide between them. In a conversation with People, she revealed that she wanted to become a mother, but her then-husband didn't want kids, and she "swallowed" whatever he wanted to make their bond work. According to her interview with the same portal, the breaking point in her marriage came when she was dealing with a constant migraine issue. But instead of rushing her to the hospital, Lindwood showed indifference. Recalling the exact moment, she said:

"I said, 'OK, I'm done. You really, truly don't care about me, and I'm done.' I'd have to be freakin' comatose not to get that. My friend nailed it when she said it was disregarded. You don't know how painful that can be until you experience it. [Leaving him] was extremely liberating."

Gloria Gaynor still believes in love

Gloria Gaynor might not have had the best experience in love. Still, she dedicated the rest of her love to her work, community work, supporting pediatric hospitals and advocating for absentee fathers to take an active role in their daughters' lives. Talking to the portal in 2023, Gloria admitted that she does believe in love. However, she is doubtful if it is meant for her, but irrespective of that, she is not interested in it. Despite everything, the singer is in a happy and content space in life.
