According to multiple reports, the reason behind Justin Trudeau and Sophie Gregoire’s divorce was his immense workload. In Conversation with Sophie Grégoire Trudeau, a panel hosted by SheMedia Co-Lab, Sophie revealed she could relate to the negative effects of being with a workaholic. She said:

“Naturally, I got married to one.”

Sophie’s joke about marrying a workaholic made people believe that she was giving a hint about tensions in her marriage. It has also fuelled speculations that it was Justin’s demanding political career that wrecked his marriage of 18 years.

Another speculated reason for Justin and Sophie’s divorce was reported to be his alleged infidelity. There were rumours linking Justin to Melanie Joly, the Foreign Minister of Canada. Though the rumours were not confirmed, it was stated that these speculations might have also contributed to the couple’s divorce.

In his autobiography, Justin talked about his marriage with Sophie and revealed that it was not perfect and they work on it each day. Penning about it, he wrote:
