Instead of focusing their attention on the honour of Jim's journey, netizens began a new conversation about his facial features, eye colour, and expressions, which appeared different. In turn, netizens speculated that the comedian might have created an AI clone or that Hollywood had replaced it with a body double. Here's what led them to believe the claim.

Why does the internet think Jim Carrey is replaced by a body double?

When some videos of Jim Carrey accepting his lifetime achievement award went viral, netizens were quick to point out how he looked "unrecognisable". They believed his eyes had a brighter shade of blue and that of his subtle facial expressions contrasted with his usual animated persona. Some netizens spun a controversy that he might have been cloned or impersonated. Whereas a few others believed he might have gone under the knife for cosmetic procedures. But there is no verified evidence supporting those claims.

Notably, a significant factor in the confusion is that Jim Carrey has largely stepped away from Hollywood in recent years. Despite being a celebrity who became a household name in the '90s, Jim went low-key. Now, he suddenly reappears after years of privacy. So, some people think that ageing and styling might have further stunned his fans. At the same time, lighting, high-definition cameras, and even coloured contact lenses can significantly change how someone appears on screen.
