Nina Dobrev and Shaun White got engaged in October 2024. After five months, in March 2025, The Vampire Diaries fame sat for an interview with E! News, where she was asked about her marriage plans with Shaun. At that time, revealed that she was not looking to tie the knot yet, as she was enjoying the engagement period and was not rushing wedding plans. She cited that the boyfriend and husband phases are usually longer than the fiancé phase, which is why she wanted to hold on to the 'fun' title for some time. Her exact words were:
"I really want to enjoy it and not rush that process. We're just enjoying being engaged at this point and being in that sort of phase because a lot of your life is you have a boyfriend for half of your life and then you have a husband for half of your life, but the fiancé period is very short."

Nina Dobrev and Shaun White met in 2019 at a motivational workshop led by Tony Robbins in Florida. Although they had a brief initial encounter at an awards show in 2012, it was at this 2019 event that they truly formed a connection.
