Why Sophie Turner Split From Joe Jonas? His Alleged Controlling Nature, Ring Cam Stir, And New Love

Sophie Turner has recently shown why she is not afraid to clap back at online trolls. It all began when the Game of Thrones actress recently shared some photos from her time at the Oasis reunion concert. One user took the chance to troll, calling out the actress for enjoying a night out without her kids. In turn, Sophie replied that it was 'crazy' when people didn't know there was something called 'shared custody'. While her response received praises from her followers, it brought back the memory of her messy divorce and custody battle with Joe Jonas. 

Why did Joe Jonas divorce Sophie Turner?

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner were once a power couple in Hollywood who first met in 2016 after the singer reached her via IG DM. Although, she was hesitant at first, they met over casual drinks at a British pub and quickly turned it into a romance. They made their first public appearance in late 2016 and got engaged in 2017. The couple had a secret Las Vegas ceremony in May 2019, followed by a formal wedding in France. Sohpie worked with Joe in his music videos, they attended events together, and welcomed two daughters, Willa in 2020 and Delphine in 2022.

When Joe and Sophie amicably parted ways in 2023, fans were left in shock. They couldn't understand what led to the big step, but following the news, several media reports about different possible reasons for the split emerged. One major report by US Weekly claimed that Joe's hectic tour with Jonas Brothers was not liked by Sophie, who wanted to 'keep their family' separate from them. Another insider said that Sophie often felt overwhelmed in managing her acting career, parenting two daughters, and coping with Jonas' frequent travel. 

Another report by TMZ highlighted that the tension in the couple's relationship was due to Joe's allegedly controlling behavior. Sources claim Sophie felt restricted by his jealousy and public flirting habits. A final straw reportedly came when Joe viewed ring camera footage of Sophie by the same outlet where she spoke critically about him to a friend, which allegedly prompted him to file for divorce. As per Elle, a source said, "It wasn't anything more than that, but that was the final straw [for Jonas]." Later, the actress filed for divorce and claimed that Joe was unlawfully keeping their daughters in US, leading to a long custody battle between the duo. They finally ended up taking shared custody of their daughters.

When Sophie Turner was in the middle of her divorce and custody proceedings with Joe Jonas, she was seen kissing actor, Peregrine Pearson, reported The Sun. They didn't confirm the rumours, but they were seen together in public on multiple occasions. From their PDA during a walk in London to their joint appearances with hugs and kisses, everything made headlines. Earlier in 2025, reports of their split emerged when Sophie unfollowed Peregrine on Instagram, but they were later seen together, which immediately put those rumors to rest.
