Will Taylor Swift Perform At The Superbowl Halftime Show? Here's What The Insiders Have To Say

Ever since Taylor Swift's romance with Kansas City Chiefs star, Travis Kelce, has blossomed, the global pop icon has been a regular face at NFL games. Cameras and fans wait for her arrival at every Chiefs game. They quickly turn their attention from the fields to the stands when she cheers for Travis and his team, making her a central talking point in the league's current season. In the same quest, the speculation was that Taylor could headline the Super Bowl 60 Halftime Show and grow strong in recent months. But it looks like the things between her team and the NFL have fallen apart. Here's why.

Why did Taylor Swift say no to the Super  bowl halftime show 2025?

According to Rob Shuter's Substack report, Taylor Swift was keen on performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. But she had one major condition. The condition was that she wanted to retain ownership rights to her performance and secure promotional slots for her projects. Sources claimed that the demand was non-negotiable for Taylor, who has been increasingly vocal about owning her creative work, especially after her public battle over her master recordings. However, the NFL team "flatly refused" these terms.

The NFL, which traditionally doesn't pay halftime performers, offers its massive platform as a form of compensation. Since more than 100 million viewers tuned in to watch the final, most of the artists are content with the invaluable exposure they received through the opportunity. But Taylor Swift, who is already at the height of her career with the record-breaking Eras Tour, doesn't need that exposure. One insider told the outlet:

"She wanted a deal that reflected her value. Without that, she wasn't going to move forward."

What is the NFL's condition for the performers at the Super bowl halftime show?

The NFL has long maintained its stance of not directly paying artists for the halftime performance. Instead, it invests heavily in the production, often spending millions to stage elaborate shows. When asked about Taylor Swift's potential chance to headline the Super Bowl halftime show earlier this year, Commissioner Goodell avoided going into the details. According to NBC, he acknowledged her star power and called her 'a special, special talent'. His 'maybe' comment during his conversation kept fans hopeful.

Taylor does step away from the opportunity to perform, which is set to take place on February 8, 2026, at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Some other top contenders for it include Adele, Miley Cyrus, Drake, Metallica, Post Malone, and BTS. According to Reuters, Adele, who has an album release earlier next year, and Miley Cyrus are the front-runners. However, no official announcement regarding the decision has been made.
